wesleywalrus Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 I feel like everyone is raving over this but I walked out like "meh." Obviously better than Vol. 2 but I don't think Vol. 1 can be topped. That's top tier Marvel. The way Marvel hasn't had an exceptional film in 5 years now Shang-Chi is pretty good though.

Hector Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 Not my favorite movie in the trilogy. It was fun, though very chaotic (though nowhere near the tragedy that was Rise Of Skywalker). Rocket's side story was very, very good. Spoiler And I cried when Lila died Linda Cardellini did that! Thankfully, I thought that they nailed the ending. Spoiler Florence's Dog Days Are Over was so perfectly used in one of the final scenes. Love that Rocket is the new leader of the Guardians And it looks like Star Lord will return in a future Avengers movie based on the ending.
MadonnasBoyfriend Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 Gonna see this at 1150 in 4dx. I just watched the first two ✌🏻 before hand
Gorjesspazze9 Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 (edited) $260M opening weekend, this definitely can Break $300M by the end of the 5 Day Another Marvel Hit! Also kinda proves that audiences like marvel team up film more then solo ones. That’s why I think the Marvels will do Great. Edited May 6, 2023 by Gorjesspazze9
Gossip_Boy Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 It’s doing amazing internationally. The numbers in China are stellar. Looks like it’s gonna get hard carried by the international markets unless the great WOM start having an effect domestically. It’s a shame it had to come out right after the disaster that was Quantumania. It’s definitely paying for the sins of #that movie in the US.
HASHTAGPOW Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 Are we getting another 2 billion dollar movie from Queen Zoe Saldana?
Johnnyboi Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 1>3>2. I was scared how they were going to handle Gamora and they honestly did it really well. I’m here for Dog Days are Over getting it’s Running Up that Hill moment.
XAMJ Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 It was the weakest in the guardian series , I don’t see the hype I think ANTMAN was better , don’t come at me
By the Water Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 This was surprisingly great considering the trailers looked so mid. Perfect way to close out the trilogy
BNF91 Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 $30M opening in China is stellar? That's news to me. Anyways looks like Saturday is hitting $39M. -19% from Friday. Both 1 (-18%) and 2 (-9%) held better from Friday to Saturday. OS seems to be benefitting from WOM but not really domestically. Yet, at least.

Rence Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 Gunn making the best MCU movie before moving to DC makes me want to stan a bit

You would be shocked at the number of annoying movie pundits on Twitter and Reddit who are jumping with joy at the idea of superhero films declining. It's hilarious how a $100M opener can be seen as a disappointment. Yes, it's lower than its predecessor but will more than likely still be the top 5 biggest openings of the year.

I see Twitter and Reddit as other versions of ATRL tbh. They’re just circle jerks filled with complete losers!
Eóghan Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 the jump from the 6.2/10 of "Love & Thunder"/"Quantumania" to 8.4/10 is fuckin wild though i just realized even the well received "Multiverse of Madnes" / "Wakanda Forever" didn't even hit the miminum 7/10 on iMDb
Arcadius Posted May 7, 2023 Posted May 7, 2023 Thor Love and Thunder made $303M opening weekend globally so if it reaches $290M opening weekend then over $700M is definitely possible. The second weekend is really going to be telling.
