I'm glad Marvel redeemed themselves and this movie really deserves its success. It's just funny to me that people see this as a huge success but deemed DS2 a bomb when it almost grossed $1B and with lower budget.

Yeah I remember being in the trenches last summer when people were calling Multiverse of Madness of flop for not hitting $1B 

a Marvel movie only needs to hit $500M to be profitable since the average Marvel movie is $150M-$200M to make
 

Guradians 3 definitely gave the MCU much needed fan fare from fans and general audiences!

Yeah in the end of the day if it made a profit and fans like it, it doesn't matter how much it makes in the box office eventually.

 

For example, Kylie Minogue "only" sold 25M albums but she's been around 30+ years and is about to drop another album in September. Because demand, despite it's size, is there! 

 

And every other movie besides Mario is doing way worse than GotG3 so can we really say it's an underperformance? It's all relative.
