Dark Miracles Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 Winslet's accent in Steve Jobs was kinda whack I still can't believe she won Globe & BAFTA over a God-tier performance by JJL
hausofdave Posted January 21, 2023 Author Posted January 21, 2023 the fact Women Talking isn't even safe to be nominated in the category it was supposed to win

Riot Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 I want Ana de Armas to become the most controversial Best Actress winner of all time She would make people seethe even more than Gwyneth
hausofdave Posted January 21, 2023 Author Posted January 21, 2023 from the looks of THR mathematics, seems Elvis and Avatar 2 are looking pretty good to round out the top seven. From there, picture gets murkier
fridayteenage Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 ana is at least better than Yellowface Luise Rainer

Alyssa Edwards Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 EEAAO and Banshees are SO close. - Banshees is helped by how non-divisive it is. I can see people in the Academy finding EEAAO silly, grotesque and tired of hearing it's praise. - EEAAO is helped by the fact that it is more of a feel good movie. Recently they have not been into downers. I'm more and more seeing a path for Banshees to win it honestly.

The work and craft that she has put into that performance is insane and it would be mostly the actors that would clock that and give her her flowers. I can't imagine this happening at ALL but if it did i'd be the happiest person in this thread The way Colin Farrell was praising the sh*t out of her instead of doing his speech that one time, see when you do talentry, talentry recognizes it.

The irony of calling Everything... grotesque and Banshees not when: Spoiler Brendan Gleeson's character literally cuts off his own fingers and throws it at Colin's character's door And Banshees is anything but a "feel good" movie. It's more of a downer if anything.

Exaggerated, not grotesque ? I'd say Butt plugs, talking rocks and sausage fingers could be easily seen as more silly than someone hurting themselves in order to be left alone. Also i'm talking from the standpoint of what we know from the Academy voters. Not my own. I have no issue against the strange sh*t that happen in EEAAO. 11 minutes ago, Hector said: And Banshees is anything but a "feel good" movie. It's more of a downer if anything. You're right and you should say it. The movie is too absurdist to be considered a lock (as much I love it). BP needs to appeal to everyone without necessarily being everyone's #1. I feel like Banshees is well-positioned to take it for that reason.
truthteller Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 Cate ATE Lydia Tár up 5 minutes in with that interview scene... she's so natural without any dramatic acting...
EnigmaticAndroid Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 (edited) Unless one of them flops post-noms, BP is easily EEAAO vs. Banshees. No one gives a f*ck about Tumblemans and the stars aren't quite aligning for Top Gun. Tbh, the fact that Naatu Naatu instantly became the BOS frontrunner at the guilds against a Gaga power ballad, which should've been a surefire win on paper (assuming a TG:M BP win), always felt like a big red flag. X~MoviePoP Posted January 22, 2023 Posted January 22, 2023 Lbr vegas should be winning bos but i understand why its not nominated. But natu natu is horrible. Give it to anyone else plz
