They all deserve. There's a chance one could get snubbed by the 24th on Oscar morning. i wish, it would be amazing to see all three of them get nominated, but at least one of Angela Bassett/Jamie Lee Curtis/Kerry Condon would have to miss...
fridayteenage Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 tfw they have a 1-asian quota and push carey mulligan in.

EnigmaticAndroid Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 The way film bros kept trying to say that Williams was the secret frontrunner and would stomp the guilds
wehan6 Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 (edited) if viola, danielle and michelle all make the line up will that be the first time 3/5 of the best actress nominees are woc right? Edited January 19, 2023 by wehan6
hausofdave Posted January 19, 2023 Author Posted January 19, 2023 Williams really gutted herself the Oscar, self-sabotage queen
zoldyck Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 Supporting Actress category has been wild race: Michelle Williams been declared as sure win, only for her to jump the category Buckley and Foy declared as next frontrunners, only for them to serve OUT Curtis manifesting her nomination and lowkey damaging chances of Hsu Bassett coming out of nowhere and looking to be first woman to be nominated for comic book movie and possibly win. Whew definitely the most interesting and juicy category this year

Yep, only 2 times have there been more than one woman of colour in Best Actress: 1973 - Diana Ross, Cicely Tyson 2021 - Viola Davis, Andra Day There have been 3 POC in every other acting category: Supporting Actress - 2017 Supporting Actor - 2021 Best Actor - 2021 So Best Actress could join this year.

I wanna see a winner with a truly shocking reaction (in the last decade it was Olivia Colman for The Favourite, not only Olivia was shocked but the rest of the nominees especially Gaga were shocked too) MGH in Pollock That was a lovely surprise (though she deserved even more for Mystic River) and Supp Actress category was stacked too

Kylizzle Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 I only really want to see both JLC and Stephanie both nominated for EEAAO, any other 3 for supporting would be fine. It would be cool if Dolly got a nomination but it seems like a longshot. I think Triangle of Sadness might not do as well as people are thinking. Meanwhile AQOTWF is serving 1917
Alyssa Edwards Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 I watched All Quiet On The Western Front last night. Really really well made, very well acted, the cinematography is wonderful that "frozen lake" scene at the beginning shook me a bit (iykyk), it was dark like any other war film i'd say. But it didn't take me on the journey as grippingly as 1917 did nor was it as insidiously pervese and upsetting as Quo Vadis Aida (which is a plus, sort of, it depends how you look at it). All the technical nods it gets are deserved and it's great that it has such a shot to be in the top 10 for Best Picture. Not my favorite film i've seen recently but the craft is just undeniable.

Mr. Duff Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 I really hope Paul Mescal can get in. I feel like Tom Cruise will get in so I am curious could Bill or Austin get snubbed? I don’t really think so but I am still praying for Paul to miraculously make it.

I agree with this I think All Quiet can snatch most of the same awards 1917 did. Would be kind of boring but expected tbh. I just hope Batman gets some tech representation Edited January 19, 2023 by Kylizzle
Blade Runner Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 Can't wait for Twitter to rip the Academy to shreds when Curtis gets in instead of Hsu. It's what they deserve.
