hausofdave Posted January 16, 2023 Author Posted January 16, 2023 what does Andrea have over Hollywood

Def would have helped to have the groundswell start earlier in the season well woman king/till/blonde are weak overall contenders, and michelle was sag snubbed. andrea's campaign/studio clearly has minimal funds so that's why she didn't start her attack until now. she talked about that in some podcast. box office mojo and the-numbers don't even list any US box office numbers at all.

Viola Davis is very beloved and respected so she’s not as weak as the rest of the film is in other categories. I think Ana De Armas is the Emily Blunt in Girl on the Train of the season; don’t think she makes it to Oscar. And while Michelle’s performance is proving to be more divisive, she probably has a better shot with the Academy considering her track record, not to mention the film will do well in lots of other categories. Andrea has some big names going to bat for her, but I don’t buy that it’s enough to make up the difference with how out and front everyone has been all season. Javier Bardem had a similar word of mouth campaign for Biutiful with lots of big names going up for him but he managed to get in at BAFTA; Andrea wasn’t even shortlisted. LastKiss Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 I’m sorry but I don’t know who this Andrea is and why the sudden campaign from every a lister there is
Donquizote Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Perhaps actor branch is tired already to be told what to do by Oscar pundits. Now they want to decide nomination by their own

Green Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Angela is officially the frontrunner. SAG will be even an easier win for her
Donquizote Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Lol. Shameless CC just copy and paste Globes. Won't be surprised if Yeoh and Blanchett tie
mokitsu Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 the Andrea thing is so bizarre. she legit called up all her friends and asked them to promo her the copy and pasted tweets from the celebs
kandicha Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 at Critics Choice copying Quan and Bassett I wouldn’t be surprised if we have ties for both Best Actor and Best Actress
Donquizote Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 And I wonder why pundits still take CC seriously
Donquizote Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Or maybe we'll have a tie for Best Director as well
Blue Monday Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Somehow I still don’t buy Angela is winning the BSA Oscar
Green Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 The TV winners are basically the same of the Globes

I guess we'll have to wait for SAG/BAFTAs but these speeches/exposure will help Angela for sure.

D/X Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Andrea deserves the hype. She's been amazing and very eclectic in every project I've seen of her. You would think critics would support indie films and performances that are deserving but very overlooked... instead they get behind whatever A24 film twitter bros are hyping and believe they have some sort of influence when they can't even vote.
