That too but I meant actresses that went lead during the other awards shows then switched to supporting for the Oscars which is how they won (when Alicia Vikander was nominated for lead at the Globes for The Danish Girl, she was in supporting for Ex-Machina).

I'm kinda rooting for Ana because she deserves this despite everything about the movie being garbage. Wonder if Margod still can sneak into the lineup on nominations morning Honestly don't think so, considering the preferential ballot. She probably won't be on a crazy amount of ballots and feels like a #4 or #5 vote for a lot of people anyway. Her reviews being pretty good but not great always felt like a deciding factor.

What kind of shitty argument Exactly. It feels homophobic to me to portray all gay people as perfect instead of acknowledging LGBT people can have flaws or be flat out criminal like anyone else? TAR depicts a lesbian who is a predator, true, but it doesn't play on stereotypes or old cynical tropes. It's basically just the usual story of men who get #MeToo'd, but flipped on its head. Plus, Lydia Tar is one of the most complex and deep characters shown in a film this year, which is a good thing for LGBT characters. This might not be "good representation" but why should all gay characters have to be?

Not to mention, that fuming naysayers like to gloss over the fact that Todd started out with a male character in mind until Cate came along, thus rendering the "omggg this cis white male had the intention of feeding into harmful lesbian tropes!!!" completely untrue. It's a #MeToo story that God forbid dares to feature a minority in the chief misconductor (no pun intended) role.

You have to get enough #1 Lead Actress votes to get nominated, and it seems like Michelle W. may not have that type of passion. We really could be in for some surprises on Jan 24.
