EnigmaticAndroid Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Honestly, this could be good for EEAAO. It performed as well as it needed to without putting too much of a target on its back. Keeping its status as a relative underdog is a good thing. And it should perform well at SAG tomorrow. Fablemans isn't winning BP anyway so it's not much more than a cute distraction in the grand scheme of things. HFPA voted for what was the most "Oscary" in a split/fractured category.

She has had great roles in critically acclaimed movies for years unlike the other two JLC is overlooked because of her film roles are in comedy/ horror so clearly she wont get that much acclaim from those. But her filmography is iconic Halloween is one of the most influence slasher film Trading Places & Freaky Friday are cult comedy film A Fish called Wanda is always on best comedy of all time list True Lies is a blockbuster action film and her dancing scene is iconic
Digitalism Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 (edited) My country is a mess Everyone is celebrating because Argentina 1985 won and mostpeople didn't even watch the film or the other nominees Such a bad award hungry film. Literally it's the trial of the chicago 7 but in argentina I still have nightmares about the jokes. The facho jokes and that papa metiste en cana a videla Such cringe inducing dialogues for a movie delealing with serious topics Edited January 11, 2023 by Digitalism Typo

Also why are we acting like she has range. She doesn't. She is just a well liked movie star And between her and Angela, well Angela is liked plus good sorry
hausofdave Posted January 11, 2023 Author Posted January 11, 2023 at least no Elvis sweep, all that hype
fridayteenage Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 BTW, aside from the obvious racism, they love McDonagh. In Bruges 1 win/3 noms = 0 Oscar/1 nom 3 Billboards 4 wins = 2 Oscars
hausofdave Posted January 11, 2023 Author Posted January 11, 2023 hopefully SAG nom will bring more chaos tomorrow morning
R.E.M. Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 I don't know why people are surprised Butler won That's the exact kind of performance the HFPA awards. Overall, I'm content with the results (specifically legend Coolidge getting a GG and gearing up to collect her second Emmy). Janelle James and Elizabeth Debicki losing Best Supporting Actress (TV) is insane though.

chiliam Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 the Globes is serving some usual mess. EEAAO still needs to sweep the Oscar though, that movie is such an experience. The fact that`s its in the conversation despite release in March clearly show there`s a passion behind it. Like Parasite but even stronger cause of the casts also snatching these awards.
fridayteenage Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Some years' Biggest Globe winners: Power of the Dog & West Side Story Once Upon a Time in Hollywood 3 Billboards La La Land The Revenant Boyhood American Hustle They're actually not great gauges outside of acting.
Hector Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 (edited) Also wondering who the Critics' Choice Awards will pick as the Best Picture on Sunday. Will they stick with Everything Everywhere All At Once (which Gold Derby currently have as the frontrunner) or pivot to Banshees Of Inisherin (GD's #3) or The Fabelmans (the #2)? Edited January 11, 2023 by Hector
Monster Megamind Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 I feel that dramas, comedies and musicals are the least culturally relevant movie genre post pandemic streaming world. It only makes sense that they add best horror, best action in movie categories. Change with the times!
fridayteenage Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 btw, tyler probably would have lost to the blackbird guy if they didn't split categories. in the last 20 years, a comedy supporting actor only won twice (jeremy piven, chris colfer), so 10% of the time.
Monster Megamind Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Also, how is the bear nominated in comedy category is surprising to me. It's clearly a drama

Donquizote Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 Ready for SAG nominations and surprise snub
fridayteenage Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 2 minutes ago, Monster Megamind said: This is absolutely wrong! They should close this loophole it's the opposite of a loophole actually. For several years, the Emmys mandated that half hour = comedy and hour = drama, and networks/producers would have to actually petition a review if they wanted a show to go the other way. Sometimes petitions worked, sometimes they didn't. They did just go back to the rule before which was that the network/producer chooses their preference, but the academy can choose to review and move them.
