fridayteenage Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 This century's most egregious frauds to get multiple lead actresses nominated: Julia Roberts 46.6% (with Meryl, August Osage County) Emma Stone 48% (with Olivia Colman, The Favorite) Cate Blanchett 56.2% (with Judi Dench, Notes on a Scandal) Rooney Mara 59.7% (with Cate Blanchett, Carol) Scandalous Cat being the blueprint I see.

fridayteenage Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 the good thing about everything everywhere is that backlash generally comes for movies that are from a director who's already had their spotlight moment. -power of the dog, by oscar winner jane campion (vs. sian heder) for a bit, it seemed momentum was going the way of -chicago 7, by oscar winner aaron sorkin, before shifting to new-to-the-spotlight (chloe zhao) -1917, by oscar winner sam mendes (vs. bong joon-ho) -roma, by oscar winner alfonso cuaron (vs. nick farrelly) it seemed to be a battle between shape of water vs. 3 billboards, and it ended up being a loss for -3 billboards, by oscar winner martin mcdonagh (vs. del toro) -la la land is a bit different, but chazelle did previously have a writing nom for a bp nominee (vs. 1st-timer barry jenkins) -the revenant, by oscar winner inarritu (vs. tom mccarthy)

I don't think two basic movies will win best picture twice in a row EEAAO basic? in what kind of distorted reality did you see the movie you can call that movie a lot of of things but basic. it's so out of the box. But you're right to say that the Academy always alternates between "weird" storytelling (Birdman, Shape of Water, Moonlight, Parasite) and "basic" (12 Years a Slave, Spotlight, Green Book, CODA). It's like clockwork. This is why I say Banshees might touch EEAAO because it's wonderfully "bizarre". 1 hour ago, GraceRandolph said: Yeah, that's why The Fabelmans isn't winning.
kandicha Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 cannot wait to see what wild upset only the Golden Globes could give us that happens tonight. my guesses: Ana de Armas or Baz Luhrmann.

Liafen Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 Miss Fran really SKIPPED all of the award shows leading up to the Oscars sending text messages and whatnot, only to show up at the Big Night without even coming her hair or changing her black moo moo PJ and STILL winning so effortlessly. She is the moment, I fear
Donquizote Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 The only upset I think can happen is Margot wins over Yeoh
Riot Posted January 10, 2023 Posted January 10, 2023 The only real impact that the Golden Globes will have is in the Best Supporting Actress category, I think. I'm pretty sure that Jamie Lee Curtis is going to win (she is one of the few actors that supported them during the controversy), but an Angela Bassett upset would be nice. I don't think that Kerry Condon is winning, since the Globes usually go for the A-lists.
