Just watched the woman king, Viola felt a supporting character to Thuso.

I felt same way in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.

Wow No Spielberg? He's not winning Best Director at the Oscars then

Quote

Elsewhere, in the supporting actress category longlist, both Jessie Buckley and Claire Foy were shut out entirely for “Women Talking” (MGM/United Artists Releasing), with only Ben Whishaw picking up a best supporting actor nod for his role in the Sarah Polley film.

The Women Talking ladies are probably done this season.

Even Ben Whishaw made it in Sopporting

Thank GOD we can finally let go of Spielberg as the automatic Director frontrunner :rip:

Daniels are gonna stomp their way to a win I fear  And if they have the passion to win Director alongside at least 1 more ATL win...

Posted

Pfft BAFTA is so ******* contrarian for the sake of it. Whenever you need them to be left-field and boost up someone unlikely (like Vicky Krieps in Corsage this year), they can't be arsed. And whenever you don't need them to be extra, they try to upheave an entire ******* category (Actress last year).

Also I totally called only the male performer from Women Talking getting a Supporting nod. That's a red cheeks moment waiting to happen at the Oscar noms reveal :deadbanana:

Posted

Awww... No love for Hsu. :chick3:

Also, I'm just cackling how Colman is just persona non grata at BAFTA movies after The Favourite. :gaycat6:

Posted

Did they change the rules this year again for BAFTA?

It used to be the top 2 and now it's the top 3 nominees with most votes

Members of the Acting chapter vote to determine the longlist (of which the top three are nominated). A longlisting jury selects a further three performances to create a longlist of 10. A nominating jury then selects three performances from the longlist to make-up a nominee list of six performances. In the final round all film voting members vote to determine the winning performance.

Math Lady GIFs | Tenor

I guess it's because of the mess that happened last year with the Best Actress nominees :skull: No one made it for the Oscars. :dies:
