I hope producers and studios stop releasing all the Oscar movies in December/November, they have been flopping so hard lately.

Last year we had West Side Story, Licorice Pizza and Nightmare Alley all flopping with big budget

This year TAR, Babylon and The Fabelmans all flopping while every other movie released before November did great

The GP are NOT falling for the oscar baits movies anymore, they want movies that they can actually enjoy, instead of being suggest what to watch and like just because an awards season indicates them to. This is probably because the public are more careful with money and where to spend it.

TAR, Babylon and The Fabelmans are movies made for award season, not necesarily for the GP, why are they surprised by the flopping? Just make the movies accesible for the GP too.

Just saw Women Talking. Claire Foy & Jessie Buckley ATE their scenes. Frances was underused but she'll get nominated as a producer for Best Picture anyway. Well acted on the whole and I hope Ben Whishaw gets more recognition this award season,  his August character was so endearing.

Eh, Tár is full-blown arthouse and intentionally niche. It was never expected to be an audience hit. Stuff like Fablemans, Babylon, Empire of Light, The Son, etc. is way more egregious.

She Deserves A New Agent Award (NOTE: This is not a put down. On the contrary, it suggests that the actor is better than the role she’s been given.)

Ana de Armas for BLONDE

Bryce Dallas Howard for JURASIC WORLD DOMINION

Margot Robbie for BABYLON

Rebel Wilson for SENIOR YEAR

I love how some big contenders came crashing down in the heart of oscar season :dies: leaving the door wide open for EEAAO (a movie from march) to snatch all the empty spots

who would've thought? it had all the odds against it

299 dollars per theater then :deadbanana4:

Not sure whether Paramount still wants to campaign this for Oscar. This is really box office bomb :deadbanana2:

Perhaps they will focus their energy to Maverick from now on :toofunny3:

not every movie can score 80s on MC and IMDB without being part of some blockbuster billion dollar franchise

According to finance sources, it’s too soon to determine how much bleeding will go on here because the Robbie-Pitt movie doesn’t start its overseas rollout until mid-January. That said, this movie’s profit point lives around $250M WW, and that’s with a global marketing spend of around $80M, the same as its production cost. Paramount, like any studio, will scale back its marketing costs on the movie in the wake of its stateside flopping, I’m told. The pic notched five Golden Globe nominations including Best Picture Musical or Comedy.

Deadline estimated 250M WW gross for Babylon to break even :deadbanana4:
