still think Margot will get in the end at the expense of Deadwyler/Davis

Deadwyler is much more of a sure thing than Viola Davis I think; it's the type of performance that wins actors and other branches over.

If the Oscars were today, i believe "The Banshees Of Inisherin" would win best picture.

Beautiful, beautiful film. Less of a directorial feat than EEOAO but i personally prefered it.

Now, if quality was the sole decider (and i say this because i saw it get some love on a previous page so it may be eligible for this year)

Vortex would win Best Screenplay and Best Picture since it's the best movie of the year, wbk )

I don't see The Fabelmans winning Best Picture, it's well liked but I don't know that it'll have enough passion to get a lot of #1 votes. I would favor The Banshees of Inisherin or EEAAO to win Best Picture.

I do see Steven Spielberg winning Best Director though.

Yes, if EEAAO has the POC & genre bias hurdle, Fabelmans has the perceived lack of passion to overcome

EEAAO won't win BP, I don't think older voters will pick it as a top 3 in their ballot

Posted

its b/t Banshee’s & TG, i don’t even think EEAAO will top Fablemans when it comes to preferential voting despite the latter losing steam of its frontrunner status. i don’t think the passion will be as strong as it was for Parasite which had complete universal appeal amongst AMPAS

I doubt that EEAAO wins BP because it’s too gay and meta to win, I’m sure they will chose either Banshees, Tár, RRR or Fabelmans.

Posted

Tar is not winning BP. It's divisive like EEAAO.

Posted (edited)

I am rooting for EEAAO to sweep at least 6,7 Oscars including Best Actress and Best Picture.

It's well deserved.

The scene of final confrontation between Joy and Evelyn across all universes as a clash between parent and a child shits on everything else released this year.

Can't get The Banshees of Inisherin out of my head. I would be happy if it wins Best Picture tbh.

Posted

Thinking Banshee will win Screenplay and Actor.

Not convinced McDonagh will get nominated for Director :skull:

Posted

EEAAO will win Supporting Actor and maybe Director.

Hoping for Michelle to pull through and win Actress.

since covid, movies that are not 'genre films' are not getting people to theaters generally.

but good thing Everything Everywhere is there to show up as an acclaimed, non-franchise, beloved winner.
