No Deadwyler is a huge miss for Till. There was a chance she could take it but Cate is the obvious default now. She rises again at Oscar odds. :skull:

Lol, just noticed all his competitors in the category are in films with 0 other noms. While his is in BP/BD. Wouldn't be shocked if it got multiple wins like Bohemian Rhapsody.

i see Elvis “upsetting” Drama film after that rando Director nod

So it’s safe to say that the winners will be:

Blanchett

Butler

Yeoh

Farrell

JLC (it’s such a Globes winner and could help her pick up some steam)

Quan

I think this is a pretty good bet... though I wouldn't be surprised if they go Kerry over JLC

The biggest snub is def Danielle Deadwyler

No Deadwyler. :biblio:

The globes remain tr*sh even after the reform.

i researched it; doesn't look like any movie's won 3 regular acting Globes ever.

(though it happened twice with oscars 1951 and 1976, both losing BP.)

Yes it is a mess all around, Yeoh carried that movie on its back and she should be winning. Also Hsu missing nominations is another frustrating thing. Both women deserve better.

Nothing again Cate, love her too. But what Yeoh did with EEAAO is unprecedent.

Stephanie getting snubbed again is so frustrating :rip:

Posted

in a roundabout way, i'm kinda rooting for kerry.

the chances of everything everywhere taking 3 acting wins and picture are tiny, unprecedented. and Michelle>>>>>>Jamie.

it took like 35 years for us to get another asian acting winner, so if dolly rises, the chances of Michelle also taking it when Quan is a heavy frontrunner is tiny. Michelle>>>>>Dolly.

monae/bassett would be cool, but given that they're franchise fare which previously had 0 acting noms, i'd be v. surprised.

Dolly de Leon QUEEN :WAP:

JLC is overdue for a nom let’s face it :giraffe:

Ke Huy Quan being on lock for Supporting kinda ****** it up for Michelle. It's gonna end up being the acting win for the movie, and also the "poc actor who has been overlooked by the industry" narrative of the season over her. In a perfect world this would not be an issue and there would be room for both but... we all know Hollywood.

If it was a weaker year for the category she could pull off, but with Cate being so strong... it's gonna be tough.

Completely agree. I'm thrilled that JLC is being recognised as she's fantastic too, but it shouldn't come at the expense of Stephanie Hsu.
