Donquizote Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 Hoping for The Fabelmans to surprise in Director and Picture.
TROPICUM Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 (edited) There's a discussion to be had about EEAAO being one of (if not the best) movie of this century But I'm sure it will all get clarified when it wins Best Picture, alongside Michelle's historic and deserved win (+ KHQ's)! I just love how talent sometimes prevails Edited March 10, 2023 by TROPICUM

GraceRandolph Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 The way AMPAS and BAFTA keep REJECTING Spielberg.

Imagine out of all masterpieces released in 2018, you chose to stan Green Book? The blandest movie that has won BP since Crash. Roma could never. A choice me thinks.

Blade Runner Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 (edited) Saw The Whale today. Understandably melodramatic and pretty much misery porn, but I liked it. 3 of my friends were SOBBING by the end. It was very touching with great dialogue, and Fraser was out of this world. Hong Chau obviously the standout. What kind of FORCE that woman is. She steals every project she's in and I can't believe her range. What a performer, my god. My favorite S. Actress nominee BY FAR. Sadie Sink, on the other hand, A MESS. Bad in Stranger Things and even more terrible here. Edited March 10, 2023 by Blade Runner
Donquizote Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 Finally something we can agree on. Hong Chau gives the best supporting performance last year. But sadly she'll be robbed at gunpoint by Ms Curtis/Ms Basset. Glad to see everyone thinks ATRL darling Sadie Sink is not that good.

Truly felt like a real person and she deserves to win this. Hsu also would be an excellent winner, obvs.
Blade Runner Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 (edited) Now that I think about it, this year was actually great in general. Much better than having awful shite like Being The Ricardos in contention. I'll watch Women Talking tonight, but the only bad movie nominated is Triangle of Sadness, in my opinion. The Fabelmans is boring but sweet and truly personal. Elvis is fun campy stuff. Avatar and Top Gun are EXCELLENT blockbusters. All Quiet is better than the usual gritty Oscar-baity war movie (but not better than 1917). And Banshees, TÁR, and EEAAO are top tier films. Let's see about next season. Kylizzle Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 BP is flawless this year except for All Baiting On The Netflix Front which should've been replaced with Aftersun or Decision to Leave.

I doubt she’ll get a role good enough to win Lead but she’s one of the most in demand character actors now, so I expect her to win Supporting in the next few years for sure.
