She had to re learn piano, basically how to construct an orchestra, learn a language, not to mention the rehearsal and process to get into the character and do the film was a lot longer than Michelle's. They both did a LOT for their roles but let's not be delusional.

Now let's talk about everything Michelle did to shoot a movie like EEAAO. Not even comparable.

Good for Cate for saying 3 words in German.

International voters will come through and vote en bloc for Legend Blanchett. We love it when it happened to Colman, Hopkins, and McDormand. The BEST PERFORMANCE always wins at the end.

Volpi + TRIFECTA + BAFTA + AACTA + Globes Drama won't be IGNORED.

do you have the precursors leading for the Oscar wins of

Juliette Binoche

Marissa Tomei

Marcia Gay Harden (Pollock)

I think these are the 3 most surprising supporting actress winners of all time

SAG & Critics Choice didn't exist for Marisa at the time.

Juliette did win BAFTA but that was when the BAFTAs used to happen after the Oscars. Lauren Bacall swept everything else which is why Juliette's win was a shock at the time. This video explains it well:

For the 2001 year,  it was:

Golden Globe: Kate Hudson - Almost Famous

Critics Choice - Frances McDormand - Almost Famous & Wonder Boys

SAG: Judi Dench - Chocolat

BAFTA: Julie Walters - Billy Elliott

Oscar: Marcia Gay Harden - Pollock

For 1993:

Golden Globe: Joan Plowright - Enchanted April

BAFTA: Miranda Richardson - Damage

Oscar: Marisa Tomei - My Cousin Vinny

Live stream for the Independent Spirit Awards later this Saturday:

Notable since this is the first televised awards show this season Andrea Riseborough is actually nominated alongside Michelle Yeoh & Cate in the lead performance category. If she actually wins,  welp... :skull:

Adrien Brody was nominated against four previous Oscar winners, so his situation is slightly different than Colin, but I'm still hoping for a surprise win :cries2:

You really are delusional. They both deserve the Oscar.
