No one was laughing and her jokes not even clapping and she’s the president of the SAG-AFTRA 💀 I thought that maybe she’s not that well liked in the role or maybe she hasn’t done big things, it was so awkward. I felt bad for her but the fluff she was saying was hilarious. GLASS BOTTLES!! IMdB!! SINGLE USE PLASTICS!! Plus, I don’t think she’s very respected in the acting community.
Green Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 Angela Bassett + Jamie Lee Curtis = Lauren Bacall (expected career win) Kerry Condon = Juliette Binoche

I think I’m going with Ke Huy Quan and Jamie Lee Curtis in the supporting categories, so probably Blanchett. I can’t vote for “Everything Everywhere All at Once” across the board, can I? Or maybe I can. :skull:

Kylizzle Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 Why does that article make it sound like we're getting Farrell / Riseborough / Quan / Curtis? Perched for the meltdowns if this happens. Mine included.

wehan6 Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 i don't pay much attention to these secret ballots articles but andrea getting all this love is bad for cate
DanyelP23 Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 Just now, Kylizzle said: Except Cate was thoroughly robbed in '98 whereas Michelle actually deserves now Paltrow deservingly prevented Blanchett from winning in '98 for the snooze-fest that Elisabeth is with her bright, charming, romantic & skillful portrayal of Viola De Lesseps. A fictional character too, no need for historical figure prestige to try and impress the voters People also love to use Fernanda Montenegro's name as the rightful winner, but they forget that she was a FOREIGN actress in a FOREIGN LANGUAGE movie at almost 70 years old and the year was 1998, not exactly a pinnacle year for progressivism. She was never going to win sadly.

wehan6 Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 i know it's annoying to hear this cause people say it all the time but gwyneth really is one of the worst winners ever (like bottom 10)

Kylizzle Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 Cate losing to Michelle at least makes sense even if she has more precursors. Both performances are iconic for different reasons. There's nothing iconic about SIL outside of the campaign they ran for it. Saving Private Ryan lost BP, The Truman Show lost screenplay, Cate lost leading actress, even Prince of Egypt should've won score
Green Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 Wait I just noticed that the 3 secret ballots voted for Todd Field for Director
DanyelP23 Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 Y'all can drag it all you want & Harvey too (the campaign was messy and he's a horrible human being) but Shakespeare in Love is one of my favorite movies and I genuinely find little flaws with it. It holds up great with every rewatch for me. (and is certainly way better than Saving Private Ryan
