Dark Phoenix Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 I’m warming up to Yeoh winning now, Cate looks unbothered and she can get a shot again in a few years. I wonder why the campaign for Andrea only paid off for the Oscars but not for the SAG at least??? The way her nomination looks so cheap and forced with every award gala, it should have been Danielle.

Whew... apparently he's andy le and he & his brother (the guy on the right) did the fight choreography, which kinda justifies why they were up onstage with the rest of the cast despite minimal lines. Last 50 years BP + BD, + Actress win for Globe OR Bafta OR Sag Frances McDormand, Nomadland Hilary Swank, Million Dollar Baby Jodie Foster, Silence of the Lambs Shirley MacLaine, Terms of Endearment Diane Keaton, Annie Hall Louise Fletcher, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest Mary Tyler Moore, Ordinary People (26% screentime); the main lead Hutton (52%) won though. Annette Bening, American Beauty (23% screentime); the main lead Spacey (40%) won though. Edited February 27, 2023 by fridayteenage
enchanted0 Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 Voting for Oscars didn't even start? Michelle (Yeoh) is really coming then? Personally I get why JLC won, her + Michelle's character combo was actually the most interesting part from EEAAO for me.

Kylizzle Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 EEAAO winning Picture is gonna be a huge moment. Not as big as Parasite for me but very very close.
fridayteenage Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 it'd be the FIRST BP winner centered around a WOC, let's celebrate thaT!

Lovett Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 I'm so happy for the EEAAO record-breaking sweep! But particularly for Michelle Yeoh. So beyond deserved! God, I hope she snatches the Oscar!
family.guy123 Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 Hong was honestly better in the menu but happy she’s getting recognized regardless. kind of like Alicia that one year where she would’ve been a worthy winner for ex machina but instead won for .. that except hong was actually good in her nominated performance

DanyelP23 Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 (edited) I think if Yeoh wins the Oscar she would be the first GG comedy + SAG combo winner since Jennifer Lawrence (SLP) and before that Gwyneth Paltrow in Shakespeare in Love (whose movie also won Best Picture). Paltrow also rightfully beat out Blanchett in Elizabeth Edited February 27, 2023 by DanyelP23
Komet Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 Yeoh's taking it, I never stopped believing Brendan too

Green Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 6 hours ago, Blade Runner said: Nah. There's ALWAYS an excuse for women of color. We know this because just 1 of 78 winners is a non-white performer. WOC always have to overcome so much and it's embarrassing. Best Actress is the worst acting category and it needs to stop. Yeoh would have easily won against Jessica Chastain lol. Last year the category was really weak. The frontrunner went from Kristen Stewart (critics fave) to Nicole Kidman (after Globe win and Stewart flopping with SAG/BAFTA) to Gaga (after being the only one nominated for BAFTA) to Chastian (after SAG/Critics Choice win and Gaga's Oscar snub) with a long shot probability of Penelope Cruz pulling a surprise win at the last minute
Green Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 6 hours ago, Dark Phoenix said: This I hate how Hong Chau has been ignored but I feel like she did not campaign. JLC, Brendan, Jennifer and Michelle felt like veteran winners; but it was so cute to see her go up and give her speech. The way Fabelmans, Banshes and Women Talking went with zero awards. Also I felt second hand embarrassment with the level of clapping/screaming from the audience, when JLC won she got the biggest noise when they announced the nominees, again with Best Actress and when they said Ana De Armas it was like one slow clap then they crazy for Michelle and Cate; also for Best Actor I felt like the 5 got a regular volume but it was Fraser. Poor Ana De Armas, almost no one clapped for her. So rude
Riot Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 Someone should dig up Blanchett's support of Polanski/Weinstein/Allen Yes Mother Yeoh
