Donquizote Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Ready for LEGEND Blanchett and soon to be 3X Oscar winner to win SAG this weekend.
Donquizote Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Just watched In Mood for Love. Yup, Maggie Cheung and Wong Kar Wai deserve to get nominated for Oscar and win. Still can't get over the ending
est. in 90s Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Imagine the surprise winner being Andrea like she was the surprise nominee. Everyone is betting on this being a Cate v. Michelle race, but a curveball like that would be so chaotic especially when some of the nominees campaigned for her to get a nom only for her to edge them out to win BA in the end. Imagine the drama that would ensue

Dark Phoenix Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 The real riot would be Miss Ana winning but I think that she’s not even campaigning (just like White Michelle) and since Andrea’s campaign backfired I guess it’s just between Cate and Yeoh.
Donquizote Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Soon to be 3X Oscar winner. We love a talented legend like her
Feanor Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 If Cate wins her 3rd Oscar (even tho I'm personally rooting for Michelle Yeoh), I'll forever be pressed that her first one wasn't for Elizabeth. Elizabeth - Blue Jasmine - TÁR would've been a GOAT lineup for any 3 time winner imo
Liafen Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 There seems to be a consensus on GoldDerby that they're engraving the name Cate Blanchett on that statue as we speak.
Likingstars Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 I really want Michelle to win but at the same time it’s Cate They both serve their career best performance in their movie tbh but EEAAO would not work or be as successful if it was not for Michelle’s performance.

wehan6 Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 women talking was phenomenal ben and claire were both robbed
LastKiss Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Like I get Cate performance was STELLAR but so was Michelle's Cate is going to score more nominations in the future, maybe more winS She is Hollywood elite after all For Michelle this is more likely than not her only chance to win It's time for another WOC winner, it's been long enough She got the performance, she got the movie, she got the career Give it to her
hausofdave Posted February 22, 2023 Author Posted February 22, 2023 (edited) I'd still lean Top Gun in Editing+Sound combo. It’s proof the Academy votes differently w BTL categories (e.g Kings Speech losing every tech but winning Director, or Parasite losing Editing, but winning Director) and they almost always include Editing in lazy tech sweeps, especially w the Sound combo. It also went to four different movies for precursors (CCA-WSS, NTTD-BAFTA, KR and TTB-ACE) before the Dune sweep Edited February 22, 2023 by hausofdave
RunBoyRun Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 I won't be surprised at whoever wins BA. I think Cate gave the better performance for sure and would be upset if she didn't win but Michelle's performance was pretty good as well.

Dark Miracles Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 (edited) Cate honestly doesn't get enough credit for getting nominated twice for the same character Not even Ian McKellen pulled that off with LOTR despite a BAFTA nod for Return Of The King Edited February 22, 2023 by Dark Miracles
Bad Wolf Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Cate is winning (deservedly), but I am still rooting for Yeoh

It also happened the same year she got double acting nominations, so she was on a roll that year. 20 minutes ago, Dark Miracles said: Not even Ian McKellen pulled that off with LOTR despite a BAFTA nod for Return Of The King To be fair, BAFTA didn't nominate him for Fellowship Of The Ring, while the Academy did. So the latter may have felt his role was recognized enough already with that first nomination, while the former may have nominated him for Return Of The King as a sort of "make-up-nom" for ignoring him the first time.
hausofdave Posted February 22, 2023 Author Posted February 22, 2023 unfortunately Butler has this locked. His path is mirrors Malek who won GG, BAFTA and lost CC (not that they matter) plus SAG loves a transformation

I thought he'd have been nominated for supporting like he was at the Academy so was looking there and didn't see his name. But slay But yes, in that case what a pity he didn't get the nom at the Oscars too.

McNulty Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 I'll take anyone over Butler, I just hate biopics. How many times are biopic actors gonna win an Oscar for simply "emulating" the real person?
Kylizzle Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 (edited) Blue Jasmine and TÁR will go down as the best BA winners this century along with Natalie Portman methinks. Edited February 22, 2023 by Kylizzle
