Uff, I was hoping the BAFTA was going with Daddy Farrell but they stayed basic as always. I should've expected it, after they gave it to Will Smith last year...

Butler won. How did that happen :deadbanana2:

I’ve made peace with the fact that Cate is getting the Oscar, Yeoh was great but did not made the same powerful performance that Cate did, I’m sorry if this will be her only chance/nomination but talent is talent is this is Cate’s third victory is because she’s very talented and gave a more solid performance.

I’m ok with Butler getting BA but first Rami and now him?? It’s cheap now and I think that Brendan Fraser did a better job than him and Colin.

Ke Huy can sit, Barry or Gleeson did a better job and it’s between Angela, Kerry or Hong Chau for BSA.

Also it does feel like the BAFTAs are biased to British/Oz winners because Banshees and Elvis winning all those awards is too much, no variety or something.

Tea :clap3:

Id be here for EEAO going home empty handed on oscar day

Call me crazy but i'm more skeptical of Everything Everywhere All At Once winning Best Picture than i am of Michelle Yeoh losing the Oscar.

The amount of good will behind her in America is huge and that can push her to win against Cate imo. On the other hand, the movie is more divisive and that's the reason why i'm thinking Banshees has the edge.

Michelle Yeoh winner. Banshees Best Picture. Sounds about right :michael:

That All Quiet is an anti-war sounds a bit ingenuine. The story yes, but the treatment with all the fancy cinematography and over dramatized shot feels more romanticization.

Agreed ! That's why i said "call me crazy".

I just think the preferencial ballot is going to be the reason EEAAO loses. Although it's hard to imagine since the passion is so strong, but i just feel it.

It won't.

Here for TOP GUN winning just for the chaos.

EEAAO is crazy, Banshees is bleak, All Quiet is not a spectacle like 1917 was....

Fabelmans and Top Gun make sense.

Hoping for EEAAO to pull thru and win BP.

Still torn between Cate and Michelle. If I was an Academy member i'd most probably vote for the latter but ugh why do they have to face each other :jonny4: Cate is really serving an alltimer performance while Michelle's persona, narrative and naturally the physicality & gravitas of her acting is so compelling as a viewer.

Everyone keeps doubting EEAAO and it keeps slaying. :skull: The fact that it randomly won editing at BAFTA tells me it's coming.

Michelle Yeoh is my winner till the end:giraffe:

it was one of the few categories it was nominated in that would let the bafta keep their big white energy

Sometimes it's also a matter of luck when the frontrunner is not undeniable like in the best actress race this year, Butler ended up to have a better received movie than the supposed frontrunner, in the sense that Fraser wasn't the strong frontrunner people thought and hyped up for months along with his movie, then Colin Farrell arrived with a better movie and with major critics support taking the hype, Fraser was never going to win the Globe considering his history with them and Butler ending up winning the Drama Globe gave him a big push.
