Blade Runner Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 BAFTA are always so f+cking racist, lol. They didn’t even reward Quan. Maybe one day they'll give Best Actress to a non-white person. Let's wait 100 years more.

hausofdave Posted February 19, 2023 Author Posted February 19, 2023 Just now, CaptainMusic said: Yes it’s very interesting how white actresses are the only ones who are ever undeniable and give “all time” great performances in lead while POCs should just sit back and settle for supporting. yet an old systemic racism root somehow gets blamed and Blanchett becomes the yearly new target
Kylizzle Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 If POC were given their flowers when they're undeniably the best, we wouldn't need to have the conversations we're having this year. White people are allowed to win even when theyre clearly not the strongest of the year (The Iron Lady ahem) but WOC have to be literally undeniable in order to have a chance at winning.
family.guy123 Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Nobody’s even talking about the worst BA snub - Zoe Saldana
fridayteenage Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 WOC leads in movies with 5+ noms, sorted by % of the time they're onscreen: Lady Sings the Blues (85%) Roma (72%) Frida (71%) Everything Everywhere all at Once (68%) Precious (66%) Color Purple (41%) Ma Rainey (28%)

State of Grace. Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Butler isn't really worse than Malek tbh That pic above is so
fridayteenage Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 (edited) first time this century the baftas had 3 different quadruple winners. they really just wanted to keep it to their 3 white men led BP nominees as much as possible. yet another crime against woc, baftas making this performance happen: Edited February 19, 2023 by fridayteenage
MAXIMO Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 I don't get why they're giving the makeup award to the most tragic looking ones, first Eyes of Tammy with Chastain fake cheeks and now Elvis horrible and overall exagerated obviously fake makeup, and not only that but awarding the main actors who look nothing like the people they're playing. WTF

mdnazn Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Barry Refreshing to see a performance awarded rather than some melodramatic sob story
Donquizote Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 It's Blanchett's world and we're just living in it. BAFTA serving taste.
hausofdave Posted February 19, 2023 Author Posted February 19, 2023 the Fablemans early frontrunner curse coming for Scorsese’s Killer’s Moon next year
Donquizote Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 Her 4th BAFTA and soon she'll win her 3rd Oscar 2023 – Tar (winner) 2016 – Carol 2014 – Blue Jasmine (winner) 2008 – Elizabeth: The Golden Age – I’m Not There 2005 – The Aviator (winner) 2000 – The Talented Mr Ripley 1999 – Elizabeth (winner)
OnlyManInTheWorld Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 I’ve always loved Cate and even though I’m not a fan of some of her comments this season, she was unbelievable in „Tar”
Lovett Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 The fact that I love Cate, but the MAGA stan celebrating her win specifically because she's blocking a WOC is making me root against her. I hate that.
