So my review, sadly I think it's my least fave album from them. Not that it's bad it's just their music/lyrics used to be more universal, this is was way too depressing, like for example I really liked Waves melody but those lyrics, oh no.

Act 1 is not necessarily better but I think it had more highlights (Wrecked alone, a prime example of depressing lyrics but making it work). Also, this didn't need to be 18 tracks long. Too much filler (I guess the same could be said about Smoke + Mirrors, but I have too much attachment to that album). I am glad they made this album, as I feel like it's something they had to get out of their chest, but I think it's clear it's not something the GP cares for, see how the only hit they got of the era was the only track not part of the album (originally).

Bones and Sharks are great and hopefully they keep the era afloat for a while, but I don't see anything else clicking.

I mean, they clearly didn’t go into the studio with the intention to make an album that was going to produce hit song after hit song. It’s an album they wanted to do and I’d rather listen to music that the artist actually cares about, than some cheap attempts to get a hit with the GP. They’re at a stage in their careers now where they can literally just do what they want when it comes to the music, as their discography already carries enough weight. This is why they have still been able to tour arenas, stadiums AND headline festivals this era because how Mercury - Act 1 performed didn’t really matter. They’ll always be a successful touring act.

Like you said, this album just wasn’t for you. But a lot of fans (myself included) prefer the darker, deeper stuff they produce. I’d rather have an album full of Waves and Tied than an album full of Believer and Thunder. For me, this is the best material they’ve put out since Smoke + Mirrors.

Oh totally. That’s why I said I am glad they made this album, because it’s clearly what they wanted to make. And with the huge pressure of coming off Evolve and Origins, it would’ve been easy to cave and give us another smash.

It’s not my fave/not for me but I still saved 9 songs. Sirens, I Don’t Like Myself, I’m Happy are great songs adding to an amazing catalog and yes they’ll always be able to tour thanks to their strong previous music. I mean I was looking at their Spotify page and both Natural and Bad Liar have over 700 million streams. They are huge.

It’s been a week and I’m still not over the guitar solo in Younger. I hope this is one of the songs they start playing live!

I Don't Like Myself the most streamed non-single from Act 2 on Spotify!

My fave song from Act 2 smoking the others with over 2 million streams.

I can honestly see this as the closing song, something like WTW with confetti and all.

It would be an awesome closing song! I also need them to perform Blur live. I can imagine that being of those songs that sounds even better live. :jamming:

My boyfriend surprised me with tickets to see them perform in Paris at Lollapalooza for my birthday and it was honestly one of the best experiences of my life. We arrived on Friday, saw them on Saturday and then flew home on Sunday. The atmosphere was incredible and it's something I'll never forget. After hearing it live, Bones has became one of my favourite songs by them. Their energy and the way they got the crowd involved was immense! If you're yet to see them live, definitely go for it when you can!

I'm not sure how to upload videos here, but here are some of the photos I took:

Nice to meet you too!

It was my first time seeing them live as I didn’t really get into their music until after Evolve came out and then they didn’t tour for Origins so I’ve been waiting since 2018, but it was definitely worth the wait.

I wish they would have played Sharks but I saw online that they’re planning to incorporate Act 2 songs into their US tour which begins in 2 weeks. Oh well, it was still an amazing experience! I started crying when they played Birds. ???

Birds is an amazing song- awesome that they performed it!!

I have only seen them once during the Evolve Tour but has been a fan since Night Visions.  Hoping to catch them during the US shows on this tour

So you got to hear Mouth of the River live? ?

They’re one of those bands I’ve always known of but I just never went out of my way to listen to them. But my old roommate had Evolve and would play it a lot and I just fell in love with them and went and listened to their older stuff and realised how much I had missed out on!

I’m glad they performed Walking the Wire on Saturday as that’s one of my favourite songs by them.

Yes I did hear Mouth of the River live - sorry!

They actually did the whole album except for Dancing in the Dark if I remember correctly

So jealous! ??

That’s one of the downsides of discovering somebody’s music at a later date. I wish I could experience the Night Visions era live.

I still find it hilarious that Dan originally planned for Mercury to be 10 tracks. He’s such a fool but we love him for it! ?

I also saw them live in 2018 at a festival, and it was probably top 3 of my favorite concerts of all time, such a great experience!!
