Like she really delivered such a flawless self-written and self-produced album with her debut. I absolutely adore her storytelling and the way she builds these worlds and narratives that feel so vivid but also with some looseness/vagueness allowing the songs to be be interpreted as their own. The production is so ******* incredible too. The album sonically transported me to a whole other (dark) universe. She really has a way of taking you on a journey for like 5+ minutes. I asked which song on this album is most indicative of the direction she’s going with her next project - she said Hard Times She has spoken in the past about how the next album (speculated to be called The Preacher) will be a prequel in a sense to this album and will go in more depth about Ethel’s relationship with her father.
