Like the entire RNR video is literally camp so I feel like a lot of it was intentional especially given the fact that movies like Sharknado were popular at the time. But I can see where you're coming from for sure, I just think the whole video is supposed to be intentionally "so bad its good". Like even down to the product placement "oh look, my new Sony phone is ringing". The budget was obviously limited. Even though they invited some B-list celebrity to take part in the video, the budget definitely couldn't compare to that of the Best Damn Thing era. So were HTNGU and Let Me Go also trying to be like Sharknado? For me, Smile onwards have had really bad MVs and then the curse was broken with Bite Me (which in itself, wasn’t anything amazing) but then LIWYHM went back to cheap. I think Rock N Roll has definitely been her most fun video overall and I don’t dislike it, I just wish she hired better directors. It’s like with HTNGU, the sets etc are cute but the lighting and camera work make it look like it was shot on an iPhone. I remember it debuted at #13 - dropped and then climbed back up to #11. I always used to love watching her MVs but she lost her touch after TBDT it seems. I’ve also seen MVs from people who haven’t even sold 10% of what she has with videos that don’t look as amateur. Examples: So I don’t think it’s a money issue. She just needs to hire better directors or be surrounded by more creative people. If the people above can deliver videos that don’t look amateur with their budget, why can’t Miss Lavigne?
