Is there even a remote chance Ukraine doesn't win? Ukraine winning will only give more arguments for those who think Eurovision is all politics and the song or the performance don't matter. Also the song would have had it hard to quality if it wasn't for the war, as it's just another rap/folklore thing from an Eastern country, so I hope the jury absolutely sabotages Ukraine, cause if clear the are gonna get like 70-80% of the publica vote due to sympathy and not the song.

wow I didn't know Lithuania was doing so badly in the odds. I'm pretty sure she'll qualify though

Ukraine would easily qualify even without the war:rip:

it was 5th in the odds when Kalush were officially announced (2 days before the war)

All depends on how high or low the juries will rank Ukraine. I'm expecting Ukraine to win the televote in a landslide. Juries are usually less susceptible for external bias, but they might still vote for Ukraine as a middle finger to Russia, especially other countries affected by Russia/close to Ukraine.

Happy ESC week fellow ATRLers!

What exactly happens during the jury shows? I'm out of the loop. :swan:

Professional juries will vote during the jury show, so 50% of the final score will be decided. Other than that it's practically another dress rehearsal.

Thanks! I suppose this won't be televised/streamed, right? Do you guys watch live reactions from blogs etc?

this is such BULLSH*T. Ukraine is one of the most stable countries in Eurovision, with a 100% qualification rate. Both Alina and Kalush were top 5 in the odds BEFORE the war has started. Just say you don't want us to win because you feel so scared about those "pity votes" you refer to.

Yes, wiwibloggs will stream it. It's important to watch because if someone f*cks up or there are issues with a performance it would most likely mean juries will bomb the entry. I'm sure someone will share the link here

You just can't ignore the fact Ukraine has one of the best performances/staging this year, and we got the biggest applause (with Greece) after the second rehearsal. Stop saying it's only because of the war because both song and performance are great.

Thank you! I definitely learned something new because I thought both televote and jury votes were issued during the Grand Final. :skull:

Don’t act brand new sweetie

You can’t deny that they are gonna benefit from a lot of pity votes :skull:

It IS a problem when pity votes could possibly be the difference between winners and it is NOT FAIR.

I never said they were never going to benefit from it :rip: i just called out the user who said Ukraine would NQ without the war. Or do you agree with that?

I really didn’t want us to win. Like, really. First, because of Alina. Second, because the backlash we’d get and I had enough breakdowns these past three months. But seeing a lot of you fume about this while supporting the absolute blandest trash like Spain or whatever now makes me want us to win so badly. And it WILL happen.

Of course Ukraine would qualify anyway, with or without a war. I think that qualifying was never in question.

If they win tho... It's going to be a mess and overshadow pretty much everything else. It will make the point of Eurovision being politically influenced more than ever.

Not pointless at all. It's pretty common a Eurovision act benefits from some controversy or another, this time it's Ukraine, and they're getting a lot of sympathy for a good reason. It's not cuz of something 'controversial' as a 'woman with a beard' as Conchita was constantly referred to back then

No, I meant it was pointless to prove something to that user. You’re 100% right pls. Eurovision was, is and will stay political

And other countries would never win or get the same placement if they sent the exact same song and staging as Sweden does :rip:

If Montenegro sent what Cornelia is doing this year, it’d be lucky to even go top 10.

Are you REALLY comparing a bearded drag queen with the situation in Ukraine and implying they voted for her out of 'sympathy.?

I have seen everything, ATRL. :toofunny3:

So you agree with me that them winning would be unfair?

Also a beard wasn’t as huge of an advantage as what Ukraine is currently receiving imo :skull:

We should remember that this is a competition and that Ukraine might rob someone else of a more deserved/earned win. Honestly whoever will be 2nd place would’ve been the real winner :michael:
