'Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' opens to $120.5 million, second-highest debut of 2023

Spider-Man-Across-The-Spider-Verse-Banne

• Sony's "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" opened to $120.5 million at the domestic box office this weekend.

• It was the second-biggest opening of 2023, just behind Universal's "Super Mario Bros. Movie."

• The film also marks the third-best opening weekend for any Spider-Man film, animated or live-action.

I wouldn't say it's good with 120.5. Spider-Man reached 100 in a weekend 21 YEARS AGO.

This potentially having the biggest opening this year for a CBM (i don’t see The Flash, Aquaman and certainly not Kraven or Blue Beetle touching it, so The Marvels is the only threat really) just feels correct.

Deserved for being better than the original masterpiece and somehow still making me need a continuation. A classic trilogy in the making :clap3:

+ DC about to reboot Static Shock to try and copy this success so a double win for me :clap3:

Incredible domestic debut. Overseas is a little bit disappointing to see it not breakout in the same fashion as domestic, but I'm sure it will leg out decently and have zero trouble outgrossing the first OS by quite a bit.

Yeah but it opened to $68M in 2018. It’s definitely not doing $120M+ in 2023. Plus everyone who’s seen it said how terrible it is.

Aquaman is also the last DC movie before the "soft reboot", so I have a feeling it will not do as well as the first one did. they'll be lucky to pull 500m ww

A collapse! The third one is gonna be even BIGGER. It's gonna have the same release window the Mario Bros movie had this year. Spring Break box office smash secured :WAP:

Well deserved, just got out of it and it was incredible! June is a crowded month for movies but I hope the strong word of mouth carries it far.

Illumination with Mario:jonny:

Dreamworks with Puss In Boots :jonny:

Meanwhile Disney/Pixar continues to BOMB with their animations :jonny: Who would've thought!

I loved this show so much, I hope they do an animated movie à La Spider-Man.

I’m all fairness, Disney did Pixar dirty because Soul, Luca and Turning Red were all great movies.
