WildAmerican Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 Spoiler I gasped when Prowler Miles walked up to our Miles
Memoirs387 Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 Okay… so like… did I just witness one of the best comic book films ever? yes, yes I did I love Miles so much
Lovett Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 I was planning on going to see the film this afternoon, checked my local cinema and basically every screening today is sold out. I've never seen that before. I'm shook.

Assassin Posted June 3, 2023 Author Posted June 3, 2023 Quote How big is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse? With an opening day of $51.7M — that’s the biggest opening day of 2023 year to date for a movie, beating Super Mario Bros.’ Wednesday of $31.7M and even Disney/Marvel Studio’s opening day for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 which was $48.1M. Across the Spider-Verse‘s opening day is also the third highest for an animated film after Incredibles 2 ($71.2M) and Finding Dory ($54.7M). The sequel’s day one is also the best ever for Sony Pictures Animation. https://deadline.com/2023/06/box-office-spider-man-across-the-spider-verse-1235398807/
Chiidish Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 I am in shock…they outdid the original masterpiece AND somehow created a need for a continuation

The audience scores were 93% positive and 82% recommended according to deadline so it was probably very close to A+.
WildAmerican Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 https://twitter.com/ScottMendelson/status/1665024544854114305 it's smashing your honor! when this beats GOTG and TLM opening weekends

BNF91 Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 (edited) Incredible leap from the first's debut. I'm gonna have to see this in theatres. Very early Sat #'s looking like $39M. So $120M is possible for the weekend. Edited June 3, 2023 by BNF91
Gorjesspazze9 Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 Biggest opening of the year Miles is a Main Pop Boy! Smash hit confirmed
barbiegrande Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 My whole theater groaned at the ending Great movie, but I think the ending should have felt a little more tied up or advertised better as a Part 1.

Agreed, but when I reflected back on it it did feel very resolved — basically with the cold open featuring Gwen, and then there was an emotional resolution to her story at the end of this movie. So in a way, it felt tied up if you look at it as Gwen's movie. And the next one will be Mile's. 2
Poxy Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 Just saw it! Stunning as we all know. So filled with love. Pavitr and Hobie are ICONS!! They stole the show, alongside Miles. I loved his growth. I did feel the first half of the movie was way too slow though like I understand why, but I was getting a bit restless at the hour mark. They got me back in with the ending!
devmachine Posted June 3, 2023 Posted June 3, 2023 just watched this, I have no words, this movie is perfect

I think it was a poor choice to remove the Part 1 from the title. That’s the only thing I could see hurting WOM, but otherwise this was a crowd pleaser. Edited June 4, 2023 by barbiegrande
Robert Posted June 4, 2023 Posted June 4, 2023 This was so good, possibly the best Spiderman movie ever Also I really want to visit NYC specifically Brooklyn after watching this. Spoiler I loved they included a BLM badge on Miles badge. Small details like this add so much to the character and mean so much as a viewer.
Johnnyboi Posted June 4, 2023 Posted June 4, 2023 Absolutely amazing movie. Even as comic book movie hater it was amazing.
