All the reviews were gloating about how good of a villain he is, and Austin’s performance was praised with good reason (more so his body language. That was INSANE and unexpected, and the best part of the character in this film), but I definitely needed more of him. More development. In the film he doesn’t really come off as anything more than just a villain they needed to have for the sake of having a villain.
BNF91 Posted March 18 Posted March 18 OS 3rd weekend actual jumps to $55.2M, up over $3M from the estimate
KFC Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Wait I just realised that Spoiler Helen Mohiam is Lady Jessica's mother Am I stupid, is that something that we were meant to know?

BNF91 Posted March 19 Posted March 19 (edited) Early $2.7M Monday estimate. Just -43% from last week's inflated Spring Break Monday. The Batman opened to $134M but it's 3rd Monday was $2.8M, so Dune is moving very well. It's been completely glossed over, but Dune has had the best drop of the top 15 in both it's 2nd and 3rd weekends Edit: Monday actuals are better, $2.8M (-42% from Spring Break Monday) Edited March 19 by BNF91
Karla Cabello Posted March 20 Posted March 20 ok so i did like some aspects of it but ended up disliking it as a whole, just like part I. villeneuve's hate of dialogue really hurt the movie. Spoiler my favorite part was when lady fenring seduced feyd, but i would have liked to see count fenring too as he is one of the few males who knows about the bene gesserit agenda. I HATED HATED how they portrayed jessica in this part. she was my fave during part I and in the books too, she became so one dimensional after taking the water of life and just the opposite of her book counterpart who begins to doubt the bene gesserit's plan and even encourages paul to stray away from their path by taking chani as a wife if that makes him happy. it felt like she just was alia's speaker. i hope it is so can jessica have a larger role in the next part. saying that, i liked how they changed chani that is too passive in the books and follows paul blindly. one of the best parts of the movie is chani leaving paul at the end, it was emotional and showed character devolpment, something the movie lacked. their love theme is beautiful and very reminiscing of blade runner. harkonnens carried this movie hard

Virgos Groove Posted March 20 Posted March 20 This is the kind of film that reminds you of why you love cinema to begin with. BNF91 Posted March 20 Posted March 20 (edited) $3.3M Tuesday, #4 biggest 3rd Tues in March of all-time. Just -38% from the boosted Spring Break Tuesday last week. $210.8M domestic total. The legs are legging. Ghostbusters reviews are awful so I'm optimistic it won't affect Dune as much as it should. I'm hoping for $16-18M 4th weekend and $230-234M by Sunday. 231+346- 577M global by Sunday Edited March 21 by BNF91
ctlp27 Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Look I rarely watch twice the same movie, even less in theatres. But I felt compelled to experience it in IMAX one more time. And you know what? It was even better a second time, now that I understood the setting more. Wasn't bored one bit and all the fantastic assets of the movie became even better. First and foremost, the cast. Not one fail. Obviously, Ferguson is the secret threat, but Butler really has won me over. What a movie.
bync Posted March 23 Posted March 23 Went and watched it for the second time on IMAX, this time I was h*gh as kite. Amazing. 3
lpd446 Posted March 24 Posted March 24 That was insane Spoiler Paul using the voice on that HAG at the end omg
ctlp27 Posted March 24 Posted March 24 It's really well done how you can see the difference in performance from Rebecca and Thimotée after their elixir of life moment. Like it feels so natural that they are not quite exactly the same. 1
James_Dean Posted March 24 Author Posted March 24 Saw it again last night with some friends who hadn't seen it yet- they left the theater gagged. It's truly a cinematic masterpiece

pimmelfratze Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Does anyone else also think that Zendaya kinda ruined it a little? Like her weak acting really showed
