BNF91 Posted March 6 Posted March 6 (edited) Dune: Messiah likely coming 2028/2029 Early Tues estimate- $8.1M setting up a $40M+ 2nd weekend Edited March 6 by BNF91

The studio will certainly want it after how big Part Two is turning out to be and Messiah will be huge as well. God Emperor is.... not movie friendly The GP is not ready for Spoiler a giant worm-man monster having sex with a pettite woman . An HBO miniseries would make the most sense Then I could see a TV series (with movie-worthy production value like House of the Dragon) that adapts Heretics and Chapterhouse at the very least, and maybe Hunters and Sandworms too if they're feeling brave. I hope they stop at Chapterhouse (IF they manage to get there). Hunters and Sandworms is not Frank's work anymore and it's just his son trying to make profit off his father's legacy Spoiler the worm comment is kinda a big spoiler though, maybe you should edit it out Edited March 6 by illia

KFC Posted March 6 Posted March 6 Just one thing I didn't understand, maybe I missed something. Did the Bene Gesserit know that Spoiler Jessica was the Baron's daughter? Why was she taken from him

There's absolutely no data or past trends to suggest a 30% drop for a hard sci Fi sequel is possible. 50% would be outstanding, it'll be at $150M+ domestic by Sunday already. 1

Did the Bene Gesserit know that Reveal hidden contents Jessica was the Baron's daughter? Why was she taken from him Spoiler They knew everything. It's a millennia long breeding program, so they obviously track everything down and make sure their plan works out. If Baron knew about it, he would have used that information against Duke Leto, and thrown the entire plan into chaos. As to why they *took* her away from him, it's very vague and Jessica’s mother is literally never mentioned (in the OG books), but most likely the Bene Gesserit seduced him and didn't tell him about pregnancy 1

That $50M prediction for KFP4 seems a bit high based on presales. Might actually have an exciting race for #1 this weekend, hasn't happened in a long time. Maybe KFP4- $43-46M and Dune- $41-43M. Either way, good for theatres! Along with Ghostbusters and Godzilla coming later this month, they needed this so bad.
ctlp27 Posted March 6 Posted March 6 I really hope Denis is supervising in some way the tv show for Max. This cannot tarnish the hard work he did for the first two movies! 2

I did see an interview w/ Rebecca Ferguson where she wasn’t pleased with the idea of being veiled the whole movie and she insisted on the chains and tattoos but that’s it. Glad Denis agreed to it cuz her look turned out great 3 1

McNulty Posted March 6 Posted March 6 The movie was so so good, incredibly directed and beautifully shot. I have so many thoughts, I'll probably share after the movie sinks in

Life Savers Posted March 7 Posted March 7 (edited) 14 hours ago, TaylorNation said: this is obviously not what I meant Could you be specific, then? Your words were "CGI Marvel schlock", which I take the example in the screenshot to be. The MCU CGI, in spite of increasingly larger budgets, has only gotten worse over the years. So, again, I don't understand the comparison. Dune is shot primarily on location and the technique they used to blend everything isn't even regular green screen. The CGI is also meant to be as realistic as possible, as compared to Marvel's which in many cases is meant to look silly (e.g., Waititi's Thor movies). Edited March 7 by Life Savers
wesleywalrus Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Never got the Austin Butler hype until this film. He should stay hairless
Elusive Chanteuse Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Has anyone posting actually read all the books? I honestly couldn’t make it past Messiah even I tried to read them years ago. lol even messiah isn’t as good as the first book.
publikcitizen Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Saw this today at a Dolby Cinema theater downtown Chicago. I went to the 3:20pm showing after I got off from work and it was packed! Overall Idid enjoy it but i think I preferred part one to this, just because i get so uncomfortable with religion and seeing people act in a cultish manner. That’s why I stan for Chani! I thought Zendaya really did well in this movie. My other nick pick is some weird editing choices, especially with how some scenes transition to the next. The cinematography and score were fantastic as expected. The best scene shot was the arena scene. Seeing the bene gesseit cloaks transition from black to white was so cool . Can someone who read the books clarify something for me? So the story takes place 10,000 years from now and the Christian and Islam religions merged to what the fremens practice now? And what the rest of the universe worship is corrupted by the bene gesseit with their multiple prophets? 1
