I wonder if Covid and scheduling conflicts forced the writers to divvy up the core group. Not the same magic when they're spread apart like this. Winona feels criminally underused. Either way, I am still PERCHED for S4: V2 and S5 @Walk_Away21 I haven't watched yet. So not all of S4 is out yet? I hated how they did that in S3 too. They were like never together.
AccioMiley Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 Ok im rewatching from season 1 and Spoiler I wonder if the demogorgon specifically targeted will or if he was juat in the wrong place at the wrong time. Because i remember at the end of season 1 will had that nasty vine down his throat but Barb didnt..

Buffy Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 (edited) Excuse me but where has El’s sister been all this time? I’m really annoyed by how the writers completely scrapped that character. Spoiler I keep expecting for her to show up and help El. This is the only detail that really bothered me with the video tapes and El’s old memories. What makes matters worse is the fact that all the kids have identical powers to some degree. That’s not what the writers alluded to in the previous seasons. El’s sister’s power was completely different, so that made me think each of them had a unique gift. Ugh. This season is really great at revisiting the past but sooo inconsistent. Generation Braindead Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 The new characters low-key suck. That stoner pizza delivery driver is such a stupid annoying stereotype. And that leader of Hellfire is not a very good actor.
HabbGaga Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 (edited) I'm torn on how I feel about this season. In some ways I felt less invested than before while watching the season but after the finale I cannot wait for more. I felt this season had to many storylines, the constant jumping back and forth and none of them progressing much up until episode 7 was annoying. The California storyline went nowhere and was absolutely terrible, it made me realise how much I dislike those group of characters Mike, Jonathan and Suzie specifically. Russia and Elevens storylines were basically just Hopper being locked in a cell and Eleven going in and out of that machine until episode 7 where things started to get good. Winona was underused. The best storylines were the Steve and co and Max and co groups. Part of me was feeling like why are the episodes so long when not much is happening, at times I wasn't really feeling compelled and it was dragging. A lot of the dialogue was cringe but I'm guessing that was intentional to give that 80s vibe, but mixed in with some of the casts mediocre acting which felt more noticeable in this season it didn't really work well at times, the mix between the corny writing and the bad acting it kinda had me thinking this show really wouldn't be all that without its massive budget. I also hated how they just introduced random characters to kill them, I would have much preferred them to kill some of the already bloated cast, a fair few of them are just not interesting characters anymore. although I assume someone will die in the last 2 episodes. Also the constant flashbacks to Billys death for emotional pull? Max didn't even like him and he was an awful person. Even with all my complaints there is no denying the Max scene with Vecna while Kate Bush was playing was incredible. Also like the last hour of episode 7 was just jam packed. I loved the escape stuff from the prison, I loved the reunion between Joyce and Hopper. The Vecna lore was really fun, I really enjoy him as a villain. Overall its probably on par with seasons 2 and 3. I remember thinking the first half of season 3 was really slow but then it got so good towards the end and thats basically what happened here. Nothing is touching season 1 at this point. Character rankings for the season Best: Max, Steve, Robin, Dustin, Joyce Liked but wanted to like more: Eleven, Will, Hopper, Eddie, 01, Vecna, Dr. Owens Bad: Mike, Lucas, Nancy, Jonathan, Erica, Suzie, Murray, Brenner, Argyle, all the parents Death predictions: Steve Who I want to die instead: Nancy/Jonathan or basically anyone and everyone listed in my bad characters ranking Edited June 1, 2022 by HabbGaga

This season is really great at revisiting the past but sooo inconsistent. That's exactly what I was thinking!! I assumed she escaped before all of this happened but the fact that they suddenly all have the same powers is weird asf and lazy I even thought it was consistent at the beginning bc the one kid had clairvoyance and then the other kid could control electricity with the lights. But that was completely ruined after they made it clear everyone had the power to control the lights. Such a bizarre choice bc are we to assume they all have: telekinesis, astral projection, clairvoyance, electrokinesis/technopathy, some form of telepathy (whatever 001 was doing), and illusion casting??? KFC Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 Hey y'all, I wanna start watching Stranger Things because I've heard nothing but praise but I HATE kids, so just wondering are the kids the main characters of the series? How much are they actually in the show

I wouldn't categorize them as kids and they're pretty mature for their age.

Severus Snape Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 I think that the spin off show will be following Murray. After all he's the best character and he is autonomous to the whole Hawkins gang. He is into conspiracies and will follow stranger things fans into a more adult audience. I'd be here for it. Maybe he joins a secret governmental organisation after being exposed to all of the secrets happening in Hawkins. After all Stranger things is based off a conspiracy theory. He could be researching aliens and stuff, would be cool.

Although Argyle could have been replaced with Jonathan himself getting a part time job at the pizza place and give more screen time to the Byers. Eddie is hilarious and he adds a lot to the murder storyline in Hawkins.
illia Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 I'd love a spin-off with Erica, she's very likeable and hilarious
P!NK2LOVE Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 Just finished Vol. 1… best show of all time Max my queen Also, I saw some people discussing why the upside down is stuck in time. Huh? Isn’t that what the whole point of the upside down is? When Vecna was transported there, he made time basically non-existent so it’s all randomised. That’s what I inferred anyway. Because he didn’t want to live a normal life and die like the rest of us (nnnnnn) poor El she was like is this fucker for real…?
EriKills Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 (edited) I am OBSESSED with the orchestral version they played of Running Up That Hill at the end of episode 4. It’s so beautiful, + that scene combined with this was just so fantastic it just makes me want to cry listening to it again It’s not the official, just a cover but it’s pretty close!! Hurem Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 After watching the first 7 episodes, let me sum up my thoughts real quick: I was so mad I had to wait THREE years for this season, but I was so damn excited to start watching it. They got me, yeah they got me. Throughout the season I was so confused as to where Will, Mike and Jonathan were. It's like I blocked out the moving part They were the most boring part of the season for me. Really didn't care about them and the fact they weren't shown in ep 7 says a lot. El's backstory... I kinda didn't care at all up until the final episode I'm not into El going from this bad ***** to a whiny kid. I lived for her ripping Angela's face apart, what a moment! But other than the bullying arch, I really didn't care for much else. Nancy, Steve, Dustin, Robin and Max carried the season for me. I loved watching them on screen so much. They had the most interesting story by far. Max in Dear Billy was everything. She is so, so great. I kinda want one of them to die cause I'm a sucker for sad endings. Poor daddy Hopper He really went through some **** in Russia. I though I'd hate the whole story of Joyce and Murray traveling to Russia for that many episodes, but I actually liked it? The plot twist of Yuri selling out both that guard and the Americans was gut wrenching. My jaw kinda dropped! Episode 7 was phenomenal. I had no idea whatsoever that Vecna was the guy in lab. At some point, I kinda hated the fact that Vecna was just some random demon killing off teenagers, but it all came together in the end. Can't wait for the final two episodes. Hope they're as long as episode 7 was
