Oscar Isaac Posted August 20, 2023 Posted August 20, 2023 From The Sun so grain of salt, but posting because they've been right about these things before: Quote THE second series of Heartstopper has proven to be just as much of a success as the first, making it stars out of its young cast. But that now means they’re looking to the future. I’ve learned that the lead actors Joe Locke and Kit Connor originally signed up for three series’ so are now considering their positions beyond that - and they’re after a lot more lolly to stay on. A TV insider said: “The cast were all unknown when they landed their roles and so signed contracts with Netflix worth next to nothing, as no one knew if the show would be a hit and it was a low budget production. “The contracts locked them in for three seasons if Netflix decided to renew it, stipulating their fee would go up five percent for a second season then ten percent for a third. “Even with the increase, the cast are still being paid a fraction of what their star power now commands.”
ATRL Moderator Ampersand13 Posted August 20, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted August 20, 2023 I started rewatching the second season and was a little nervous to do so just because I wasn't sure it would have the same effect re-watching season 1 had. Happy to say that it's actually made me appreciate this season even more. There have been multiple things I missed the first time around (like Elle's painting resembling the one she sees in The Louvre which went completely over my head ) and despite some of the more serious themes and topics covered, I still get that warm/comfy feeling watching these characters

Galah Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Less than a fortnight ago I knew next to nothing about this series, but decided to give it a whirl since I was a little bored one night. As of tonight, I've watched both seasons and caught completely up to date with the online comic updates. Infectious. Alice is a genius. 2
Flexus Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 I really adored the second season! Not sure which episode I’ll keep going back to (S1 it was ‘Girls’) but maybe the finale??

Lovett Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 I will 100% cry when they say 'I love you' to each other. I'll be a wreck. Calling it now. 2

It just all seems way more childish than last season and I was kinda expecting the opposite I have two episodes left and I feel the same way. It's been harder to get into this season and I'm not nearly as engaged as I was with season 1.

Charlie gets on my nerves sometimes with his submissive and eager to please personality. like can you take care of yourself and go see a pyschologist to help you and talk to someone.the way he erases himself completely for someone makes me so sad. I've been avoiding this thread for spoilers but it's been months & i still haven't finished I got bored after EP1, & dropped it. It didn't hook me like S1 did, but this weekend i tried to watch it again, & only got to EP3. Anyway, good to finally come in here & check if anyone else was feeling the same I agree with everything y'all said. If any of u guys changed your mind months later lmk, i could use someone to push me through to the end. Right now i honestly just wanna skip all the scenes, but Nick & Charlie
Magickarp Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 Nvm i just binged it all. Olivia Coleman what an icon u are Charlie's Sister the biggest ICON on the show me thinks Tao's Mom what a idenependent queen And more about the other characters: Spoiler I liked Tao's father reveal, it made me forgive him for being the worst character of S1 Darcy was annoying @ first, but when i realised what was going on, I liked what they were going for Imogen is cute, but her being bi is so forced. Isaac i guess everyone saw it coming, but this whole season is serving Glee with the whole cast being anything but straight. Charlie was insufferable, & felt like he was written by Reddit. Nick was cute, but somehow he's not hitting as hard as S1 for me. S2 has made me see the light in the S1 criticisms of how "written by a woman" their relationship is. Charlie making me like Ben this season... I literally HATED him in S1... he's also kinda cute outta nowhere? I hate that he got written out like that. Harry is an icon, & Charlie can go kick rock for slamming the door on him Nick's Brother... the things i would let that man do to me.... Noticing i'm stanning all the hetero women & homophobes But yeah, i don't think the charm of S1 carried over for me. It's like a different show. It's fine if you like it, but it's not for me. The characters feel like checklists (Glee). Too much forcefully inserting diversity quotas without giving them any depth. Tao & Darcy had some great ideas, but Imogen & Isaac's unnecessary plot lines took away from TaoDarcy's execution. Tbh Ben could've done more too. S2 wants to be serious & "real", but then writes out its most realistic character. Even Harry was pretty realistic, but Charlie decided to act like a bratty Redditor & use the door as a block button. The one dimensional cutesy writing went well with S1's vibe + focusing on 2 characters, but when it tries to be serious in S2 + focus on 10 characters, the cracks become more obvious. It went from a condensed teen movie, to soap opera. I should note that the ONLY TV i watch is comedic cartoons, or game shows. I find shows like Euphoria, Sex Education, etc all insufferable cuz i hate any form of Drama S1 was perfect for me cuz it was lighthearted. S2 just felt like a mental health awareness ad. Which is FINE, but again not for me. S1 perfect for escapism. I pretty much agree with this review."In its effort to be affirming, it forgets to be good" https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/reviews/heartstopper-season-2-review-kit-connor-joe-locke-b2387679.html

Genius1111 Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 I have just finished S2 EP 1 1. Now why did Nick think that having the coming-out-of-the-closet conversation with Imogen BEFORE she uses the bathroom is a good idea? LET HER PISS/POOP IN PEACE FIRST! 2. I did not expect Charlie's parents to be that strict with him when it comes to having Nick over. Although when Charlie's dad said that Charlie shouldn't have sex before marriage, I was wondering whether his dad kind of consented to Nick being his future son-in-law.
