This season was missing a little bit of the magic that made s1 cute but it was still good. My opinion could be skewed because I watched with my boyfriend and he was not into it. Some of the secondary characters are a bit unwatchable

I'm curious as to what people think

About the chemistry between Charlie + Ben
and Nick + Ben

It's great that Charlie seems to have gained self esteem over night but it seemed so unrealistic like the tension and on screen chemistry between the above pairings were so palpable and at times the chemistry between Nick + Charlie felt flat in comparison.

Well Ben barely exists in the books so.

It's like how chuck bass was a background person in the gossip girl books

ah another amazing season, I really love this show. a lot of Charlie's storyline really resonated with what I was going through at that age (its also my name too so that didn't help hearing my name attached to it lol) so I found it really emotional.

a beautifully crafted show, I cannot wait for season 3 :heart2:

I've only watched the first two episodes so far, but I will say that even when the script lets them down a bit...Kit and Joe always make it work. They have insane chemistry, legitimately some of the best I've seen between two actors (and I watch a metric s***ton of tv). Casting absolutely knocked it out of the park with those two.

I think that's because the actors seem to be really close with each other. It's very authentic.

Episode 2 stuff (the fact that I have like an essay worth of thoughts from just 30 min episodes omg :dies:)

Spoiler

Oh wow do not know how I’m feeling after that. The fact that this episode was giving heavy 1x07 vibes and we are only on the second episode :skull: This really is going to be a darker season isn’t it and I’m not sure if that’s what I want from this show. Did like a single good thing happen for any of the main characters this episode omg it was like hit after hit of setbacks. Love that we are zooming out from just the friend group and getting to see a bit more of the parents and how they are reacting to what’s going on (Taos mum definitely a standout). I think where I can see I’m going to struggle with this season is that it feels like we are getting more of an realist perspective of there life compared to the more idealist perspective of season 1. Don’t get me wrong it is totally necessary and helps evolve the characters but I feel like the warmth and comfort that the first season created has sort of been yanked away and we’re now dealing with the more tropey teen drama problems (but from a queer perspective) that the first season did so well in subverting. Sahar not even getting a proper introduction and just being there like we are supposed to know her, and Naomi and Felix just popping up and Elle already being besties with them :dies: like let’s slow down introducing new people and explore are other ensemble cast *cough* Tara, Darcy and Isaac *cough* ….Again a very heavy Nick centred episode but hoping when we get to Paris it’s going to feel more spaced out between everyone . Omg forgot to mention that “turned my brother gay” comment literally made my skin itch omg

I really liked it. It's a good queer representation. I mean... when I was a teenager I didn't get to see loving complex queer relationships on TV, if I saw any. We've come a long way in just a couple of years. I hope this helps younger generations to learn how to have healthy queer relationships

I was also shook when the subject of sex and intimacy came into the episodes. Up until that point, the lack of sex did not even cross my mind. I am so used to having to be sexual with a guy before and during dating just to keep them interested in pursuing things. It is such a refreshing take on love that “sex” does not have to be at the forefront to liking someone romantically. I completely understand the other comments in here when they found it strange that Charlie and Nick were not having sex yet. Knowing my dating history, It is an extremely jarring thought that two boys in a relationship are not fooling around. I really wish real life dating was more like how they portray new found love to be and i love how they handled it.

Just some thoughts on the comments here and Nicks and Charlies relationship in S2

Ahhhhh I adore this show so much!

It gets me in my feelings so much. I'm sure like alot of us... I never had the chance to experience these things at that age. I'm not even that much older than the main characters but gosh does it make me wish I was young and in love. This is such amazing representation for gay and trans youth... To see it's possible for them to be happy being who they truly are.

Spoiler

I'm so happy how this season turned out. They did a good job of touching on more negative things and situations without bringing the whole vibe of the show down. The ending scene of the last episode made me fall in love with Nick Nelson too! So heartwarming and emotional... We all deserve a Nick Nelson

Hate that it's over and we have to wait another year for season three but I hope this gets at least four seasons.

Nick is a dream

Kit Connor earned himself a second Emmy with that last scene, Christ. It’s crazy how good he is, especially for his age. Also, the chemistry he has with Joe carries the show for me.

I understand the complaints about sex and extreme puritanism (the comics are even worse about it), but they're 15-16, they've been dating for like 3 months and Nick is just starting to understand himself. Imagine jumping straight into gay sex and stuff when even kissing a boy was new and confusing for him. :rip:

I don't see the big deal, for now.

Agree. And that’s without going into Charlie’s mental health and body image issues.

I also wonder how much of the backlash is because of Kit and Joe’s chemistry being so potent. I get how it would make a viewer think the characters have gone farther than they actually have.

LOVED this season,  Nick & Charlie's relationship along with Tao & Elle's relationship really makes the show for me :clap3:

Never would have guessed Nick's brother David would have been the most insufferable character on the show :deadbanana2: Glad everyone clocked him.

Top 5 most surprising moments of the season:

Spoiler

Charlie's eating disorder

Isaac's revelation of his asexuality. I felt bad for James but it made total sense afterwards.

Darcy's mother being cold & heartless.

Ben actually really wanting Charlie, albeit in an obsessive way.

The revelation of the teacher Faruk as gay, didn't see that coming.

Also it was interesting how Nick had to constantly remind everyone he's bi, showing how strong bi erasure still is in society.

Queen of hydration Tori always understanding the assignment :clap3:Everyone in this show does:heart:

Random thought: I have conflicting feelings when it comes to streaming shows releasing all episodes at once. On the one hand you circumvent the agonizing wait between episodes and allow audiences to watch exactly how they want, but I kind of feel like you get series that stay in the zeitgeist for a shorter amount of time than they might had their run been stretched just a tad. So while I want to spread this season out, I also don't want to miss out on all the conversations and reactions happening lol. Let me catch up over the next couple days, I'm already seeing edits and things on my feed

So happy to see it doing so well both commercially and critically. This series (the books and show) really seem to have become a cultural touchstone for queer representation, deservedly so!

TVLine named Kit and Joe Performers of the Week, Will was named as an Honorable Mention.

"On one hand, it seems wrong to single out the leading men as a duo (as TVLine also did at the conclusion of Season 1). Each of them has done work that is more than deserving of distinct and separate accolades. On the other hand, it seems entirely right for them to be paired as inextricably as their on-screen counterparts. Individually, Locke and Connor are bright and brilliant stars. Together, they are something more: stars aligned."

I loved this so much, for me, it's better than Season 1 for sure :weeps:

Spoiler

Tori is such an amazing character :heart2:, I screamed when she grabbed David's arm, I actually thought she was gonna stab him :dies:

The two Paris episodes were amazing, makes me want to go so badly now, that I'm actually considering going next year :duca:, when Nick spoke French , that shocked me as his French is brilliant for a non-native speaker, I know in an interview he said he knew some French, so doesn't shock me that he has the accent down, him and Charlie are so cute together :weeps:, Elle and Tao :heart2:, Tara and Darcy :heart2:, poor Isaac though, I felt so sorry for James :weeps:, was nice to see other Trans, non-binary and gender diverse actors in this season too :heart2:, David and Darcy's mum can f*ck right off, along with Stéphane.

Which character do you see Kit playing in the DCU? I always thought he would've been a good choice to play Hulking. But for the DC, idk lol. He is still pretty young. Maybe Nightwing, Booster Gold, or Wally West (since he is ginger haired if I remember correctly). I can't imagine him as a DC villain lol.

I am sure there will be 5 seasons considering the amount of storylines left to cover. Let's hope we are lucky to get two more seasons.
