I’m so sad there hasn’t been any new interviews with Kit and Joe together lately. I miss seeing them being chaotic together.

I binged this in one day and absolutely loved it. The acting is so good (for the most part) and Nic and Charlie were so well cast - they look exactly like their counterparts straight out of the graphic novels.

I think what I like the most is that it touches upon some pretty heavy themes (homophobia, identity, etc) but it still retains a lightness and never feels too 'heavy' - if that makes sense? I guess I'm trying to say it's very accessible for young people and I can only look back wistfully and think how much I needed a show like this when I was in school and dealing with my sexuality and bullying. :weeps:

I think I find it extra relatable because I live in the UK (where the show is set), and some of the scenes in the school where Charlie was being bullied/experiencing homophobia felt very realistic and represented the sort of everyday homophobia that happens in high schools here. I did cackle at the scene when Imogen was like "I'm not homophobic, I'm an ally"... if I had a penny for every time someone has said that to me :priceless:

It’d be fun to visit some of the filming locations like Herne Bay!

I've been waiting for the novelty to wear off but it just won't let up :jonny5:

I've gone back to episodes 3, 5 and 6 the most

We have to admit that some of dialogue and some scenes are cringe af - the "you look so cuddly right now". Despite the messy at parts dialogue though, the show is still one of my favourites. I never rewatch a series, no matter how much I like it, esp. immediately after I've finished it - however I just wrapped up my 4th watch. :skull:

Whew the Clearest Blue scene was such a highlight, it literally healed my heart and cleared my acne :jonny5:

Watching this again it's like the pain before the healing for all my pent up gay bitterness :jonny2:

I agree but teenagers say cringe things irl sometimes so it’s not a big deal to me.  At the end of the day the show is a best case scenario fantasy of what a teenage LGBT SHOULD be like, so that’s what the viewers want and it delivered.

I will probably re-watch this as well. This is becoming my new comfort show when I have a rough day, lol. It’s quickly becoming a classic for me personally. None of the other gay love series have connected with me like this one.

The 'you look so cuddly like that' plays almost like a Freudian slip, it's too intimate of a thought to share but Nick says it anyway and you can tell by Kit's performance the awkwardness around it. That's what I think makes those moments work, the characters are commenting on how ridiculous some of their thoughts and words are like 'did I really just say this boy looks cuddly' as opposed to playing it straight which would be a less interesting choice. Does that make sense? Like I always got the feeling those moments were intentional. I've said some whack things when I was younger, mostly because I was so overtaken by adrenaline and emotion and have had my fair share of 'I can't believe I just said that' instances.

I ended up binging this over the weekend because of all the social media hype I kept seeing about it. It's a really, really beautiful show, it's so cute and it's capable of tackling issues like bullying, self worth, homophobia, acceptance, consent and many other things without it ever feeling too heavy because it's meant to be a show for all and that's okay. The two leads are incredibly engaging and the supporting cast does a wonderful job, STAN THE SISTER PERIOD.

On another note, the character of Harry definitely rings true to me because even though I was closeted pretty much all through high school there was ONE gay teen who was brave enough to come out during high schooll and he was pretty fem and he instantly became the target of so many nasty things, and at the helm of all the nastiness was this douchebag of the same kind as Harry. A lot of people say that bullies are sort of a cartoon of themselves in shows, and in a way every character is, but sometimes in real life bullies act like they came out of a dictionary.

Also, obviously Ben is trash, but it's impossible not to see where he was coming from, as incredibly wrong as he was regarding, well, everything, I think anyone can relate to the level of self hatred he felt for himself and his fear of being caught. The assault part obviously has no excuse, all of the above relates to everything else he did.

Starting Chapter 7 of the webcomics. And I hope they don't do a whole two season about Charlie's ED. Even though they sorta been low key foreshadowing it in season 1.

wait, what?

Honestly the “cuddly” comment feels like bi panic to me. Nick basically slams the door after leaving Charlie’s home immediately after and then goes on his online “Am I Gay” quiz session. When I was a closeted teen, I said a lot of cringe s**t and I just saw the “cuddly” comment as one of them.

The way this show is still perched at 100% RT

If only award shows weren't biased against teen shows like this

I don't see the point of complaining about this show.. It accomplished everything it set out to do and I'm grateful for it.

Tea. I mean, I get that it's not for everyone but it's in many ways the Kelly Clarkson of young adult television. Talented, Acclaimed, Beautiful, Successful AND as unproblematic as a puppy.

Wow. Your point makes actual sense in the given example. I agree.

However there are other instances that made me roll my eyes a lil bit (the exploding pen for example).

It's just a discussion. I love the show and I like to talk about the good and the not so perfect sides of it.

I’m buying the novels this weekend, I gotta know where the story goes and am getting impatient with Netflix dragging their feet on a S2 announcement :skull:

For sure for sure, I’m a sucker for the really cute moments so I’m heavily biased haha

I’ve binged this twice in less than 24 hours and I’m about to go for round three. The show is so cheesy and corny but I love it so much. There’s just something about this show that tugs at my heart strings
