Yeah I won't even complain about temples because even though they're easy, the way to get there is just EPIC, it was pure adventure, I enjoyed every moment :heart2:

But for shrines...ngl I lowkey had meltdown at first because they were so hard, I had to skip like 2-3 shrines but now I have done 100+ of them, overall they're so easy and very straightforward. They just doesn't have IT like it did BOTW. Maybe the team intentionally lowered the level of difficulty? Idk.

I GASPED at the reward for filling out depths map completely. A game hasn't surprised me like that in a long time.

Proving Grounds > Test Of Strength > Sky Crystal

TOTK shrines felt harder @ first, but only cuz I wasn't used to the mechanics. After doing 130 shrines I don't think any were that memorable, or interesting to solve. I feel like BOTW shrines had more variety & highs, but it could just be rosy retrospection. Like name 1 TOTK shrine that comes close to Blue Flame, Wind Guide, Trial Of Power, or any of the DLC shrines.

f I had the same thought. The blue flame shrine is imprinted on my brain, but nothing from Tears really sticks. Hoping some DLC will give us more, longer shrines, and a worthy dungeon too...

And a Master Mode, cus the bosses in this game were kinna too easy...

I learned today that you can farm parts off dragons every 10 mins, and you best believe when I stumbled across the Light Dragon, I stayed on Miss Thing's back for a full 40 mins so I could collect a scale, horn, fang, and claw without having to ever find her again :toofunny3:

didnt know you could do this

do the drops from the dragon ever expire? i saw farosh in the depths and wanted to do this but i didn't want the claw expiring

I’ve already resigned myself that it’s gonna take months to get through this game to the level I want, but I know my progress is gonna nosedive once FF XVI comes out in about a week. :rip:

I came here to post this lol. The FFXIV update and updates for gachas have had me struggling to make progress.

I don’t mind it though tbh cause I do want to take my time

Hmm, I'm not sure tbh. What I did was just shoot the back so I could pick up the scale immediately (it doesn't fall immediately), then repeated that with the horn. Then I waited until I was near a tower to get the claw; I shot it, dived down and grabbed it, then went right to the tower so I could remount. After 10 mins, I got the fang, and I was all done. (Light Dragon doesn't open her mouth for some reason, but you still get fang if you shoot the lips.)

3 temples down, 1 to go :duca: I have to have my hand held playing these dungeons because I'm just flat out stupid.

I have 125 hours so far, I did 2 dungeons, I have around 250 koroks, 4 memories and still a looot to do... but I gotta admit that I am disappointed with the game. Maybe my expectations were too high after BOTW but it feels like the exact same game copied and pasted to me, on many levels :/

I feel the same. I think the people that call it a masterpiece just wanted more BOTW which is great for them, but personally what made BOTW so exciting was the discovery of it all. I don't feel the same way here because its just the same thing. I have so many memories exploring BOTW and finding the unexpected. I don't think I've had a single moment that's brought out that same feeling of excitement here. I like the new abilities, and the game mostly feels seamless plus the impa cutscene memories were more engaging this time around but im sorta just grasping at straws. It really is just more of the same. Wells, caves and the depths are all disappointing. Even the shrines I find really easy and not that creative. I haven't found a questline that's really intrigued me yet, it's just been cook this, fetch this item. That being said I still have 2 temples to go so maybe that'll spice things up. It's not a bad game, I'm enjoying it but for right now anything that makes it special is just piggybacking off BOTW.

What made Breath Of The Wild special to all of us is that they broke conventions but kept some elements from the The Legend Of Zelda franchise. They kept what made it recognizable and iconic. We all enjoyed discovering this huge world, the towns, the secrets but Tears Of The Kingdom does not renew the experience. The most important aspect of BOTW, the exploration, is the biggest weakness of Tears in my opinion. Many of us already know this Hyrule by heart and it has not changed much. We know where we're going. We know the whole map. We know the towns and the inhabitants. We know what kind of elements and ennemis we're going to find. We know how to interact with them. Nothing really feels brand new but just a continuation of BOTW.

I would not go as far as saying everything is disappointing because this game is objectively very good in many aspects but the issue for many players is that it is way too similar to BOTW. You were mentionning the quests in this game and I think that it might be what has improved the most: I found many of them amazing and rewarding. Maybe you haven't found some of the most important quests yet.

I'll probably do my third dungeron today or tomorrow. I think I'll head to Gerudo town. I'm not expecting much judging by the other two I have done so we'll see.

In some ways I do agree with you when you said that TOTK does not renew the experience. I finished BOTW for the first time a month before TOTK and after playing both back to back, the game progression is virtually identical (i.e., learn 4 abilities via shrines, venture to four regions to defeat an evil presence, earn a special ability, etc.). I do want to note, however, that a lot of the similarities are just conventions of a typical Zelda game and not NintenGod being lazy by copy-pasting BOTW with a new skin. However, I don't agree with the bolded part at all.

So much of Hyrule has changed :rip: In addition to cosmetic changes (chasms, strange weather phenomena in each of the big four regions, displaced villages/towns) there is tons more to do on the surface with caves/dungeons making a return. Just think about how much Hyrule castle itself has changed. How you navigate the castle and its different sections is completely altered with the upheaval. That's not even touching on the sky islands which, I'll admit are sparse, but have tons to do in terms of exploration. Then there's the entirety of the underworld with side quests/missions, loot, rare armour sets, new mobs, etc.

I personally found BOTW was way too bare for my liking, especially after playing TOTK. A lot of the emphasis on BOTW/TOTK is exploration and with the new mechanics, the 'tedious' aspects of exploration (e.g., climbing mountains, crossing huge bodies of water) are resolved. I've already spent more time with TOTK than BOTW according to my Switch's playtime.

I agree with all of this. I played some more and I'm finding it annoying how all my quests are just go here, kill this, get this, cook this with little to no variety and no story.. I need to look some stuff up or if anyone has any quests suggestions that they really enjoyed bc I'm struggling.

Ugh I have so many clothes I want to buy/upgrade and so little money

I finally did all 4 temples, beat Queen Gibdo last and it was the easiest boss.

Went to Hyrule Castle and got my ass kicked hard by the Phantom Ganons :rip:

Will do more shrines and side quests b4 attempting again. I did 73 shrines so far.

Also got all Dragon Tears so I already knew the current "Zelda" was a puppet of Ganon.

Haven't done much in the depths besides all of the Kohga quests/boss battles and ofcourse the fire temple.

Would've done more much sooner but studying for my exams currently and took a trip to London to see Queen Bey :jonny:

Omg, we're usually on the same page but this was one of my least favorite quests :lmao:

I think the major/story quests have been pretty decent for the most part (of course, excluding the snoozefest about the little girl leaving Tarrey Town for Gerudo Village), but the quest you described was just so tedious.

I kind of enjoyed the journalism quests. The one with the cage by Dueling Peaks (I think?) was pretty cool.

Yeah Side Adventures are all pretty good imo. Big step up from BOTW's Side Quests

I thought the Journalism + Koga quests would tie in the the main story tho :gaycat6: Journalism quest ends making u think there's gonna be 1 more big quest, that ties into the main plot, but really they just tease u with some hint to Kaas :clown:

I feel bad for the Zeldatubers. Spending 4 years theorizing why certain things like Shrines, Divine Beasts, Guardians, have all suddenly disappeared, only for TOTK to go "Y'all hear sumn?"  :deadvision: And the 8th Heroine story ended up being SO underwhelming compared to all the theories put out :rip:

I saw so many people on YT & Reddit say they cried to that, so I thought I was weird for being bored by it :deadbanana2: it's not a bad quest, but it's no Tarry Town. Now the Hateno Election? Now that's a SQ:WAP:

I actually find 80% of shrines to be super underwhelming but the rest is iconic - Jenga, the one with car and constructs, death roombas. Don't remember anything like that in BOTW.

Lol I think the quest I mentionned was pretty unique and intriguing. That’s the one I loved the most so far. You had to work to complete it and it was fun and rewarding.

SO many side missions in Hateno Village:bloo:
