I don't understand what is the point of building a house in this game :deadbanana:It's literally in the middle of nowewhere, there is no reason to be in that area, nothing in this house is something you wouldn't get somewhere else. At least in BOTW it was in the village. I love having my own house in RPGs but that quest here is a massive FLOP :biblio:

I've seen people being annoyed about bout doin story stuff out of order a few pages back, the "dragon tears" in this case

well I've just met Impa (70 hours in :toofunny3:) and she gave me the tutorial for the geoglyphs, I'm guessing she's one of the first peep you meet since she's between "lookout landing" and "rito village". I've avoided rito area on purpose, so it's on me.

but anyway, after the tutorial she tells to go to the "Forgotten Temple" which is right next to where you meet her. at the "forgotten temple", you meet Impa again. there you've got the locations and the order in which to do them :michael:

the game really spells it all out.

Omg I finally got to the 2nd row of hearts  I can't believe how many hearts it took to get there.

I do love the shrines in TotK (better than BotW, if I recall correctly), but sooooo many of them can be completed using just stasis. I ignore the intended mechanics ALL the time and just make myself platforms to get to places, stasis balls so I can grab them and put them in holes without the intended mechanic, etc. etc. They made it too powerful :toofunny3:

Omg I was doing this one temple where you have to get the orb to ride on the rails like a pinball but I never got the momentum so I was just gonna make a platform to ride on and manually ultra hand it in the hole but when I got there my platform had scooped it in the hole instead :deadbanana4:

ot: wheeled wonders shrine is demonic!

I love how this game just lets you do anything. I finished the Rito and Gerudo temples pretty quickly and then decided to slow down and just explore and do side quests. I was just sitting around waiting for Dondons to poop out some gems when I saw a rock fall from the sky. Decided to recall on it while I waited to see if there were any sky islands nearby

faintly saw a shrine through a cloud and ended up on dragon head island (I think i accidentally bypassed all the other islands lol). See some vines to cut through, and suddenly I’m on a quest through the depths, get Mineru’s construct, and a couple hours later have the master sword

I feel like I wasn’t supposed to know about any of that until much later in the game, but there’s absolutely no barriers to any of it lol

80 hours in and I’m on the final boss and died instantly :skull:

currently on the run making 10000 food combinations so I can survive my third attempt :skull:

I got the

Spoiler

Hero of time set from the depths and with the master sword and hyrule shield I feel like I’m in Ocarina of time and it’s so orgasmic to see :jonny:

The plan is I think is to just explore more and get to more shrines, I’ve done 80 but feel like I wanna do them all before I tackle the boss again.

The way I have 120 hours playtime and don’t think I’ve even stepped into Rito village :rip: just roaming around the depths collecting bomb flowers and armor

I'm really not enjoying my time in the depths so far :deadbanana4: any tips on how to make it less daunting? It doesn't help that I literally cannot see ****.

I agree. I'd love a DLC (kinda like Skyrim had) with the focus being on building. Give me the option to build furniture using items in the world, let me place more units, add windows, colour swatches, etc. and PLEASE let me kick that creep off my property.

The thought that I can find pristine weapons keeps me trudging through all the gloom and darkness and annoying af mini alligators. Highly recommend having enough stamina and hearts and throwing brightbloom flowers around to illuminate your surroundings. I was scared of the depths at first too but yeah as you keep finding light roots and expanding your maps it gets less and less daunting

Build yourself a nice vehicle with giant brighbloom attached and enjoy the ride

I've put 70 hours in so far, done 112 shrines and all of the dungeons, and yet... I still feel like I'm missing so much :deadbanana:

Like, my depths map is patchy af. Barely touched the sky islands. Haven't visited Tarrey Town or Lurelin Village. There's so much to do. The fomo am feeling... :skull:

stock up on bright bloom seeds from caves and there's a certain armor set within the depths (scattered in 3 different areas) that gives you the ability to illuminate the area around you as you traverse the depths (won't go into details beyond that for the sake of spoilers)

Bright Blooms, which u should have hundreds of, make the Depths significantly better to explore.

The bottom half of my Depths map is nearly full cuz i loved exploring it at the start, but the top half is patchy cuz i lost interest once i finished the main Depths quest & also realized it's really all just 1 biome with the same assets scattered across. There are some cool areas, but the darkness also hampers the "Getting distracted by landmarks" feel of the Land map.

The Sky is eh too. Unlike the depths, u can see cool areas and be interested to go to them, but most are just copy paste overworld puzzles.

The Sky & Depths on their own are just average designed openworld maps imo.

Land & Caves are still the gold standard for curiosity, & exploration.

EDIT: New Patch 1.1.2 just dropped, apparently the duplication got patched out.

I tried exploring the depths yesterday a little but my map didn’t update with new places I’d been? I was doing that quest following the statues but gave up half way. Is my map not supposed to light up as I explore more parts?

Posted

damn I fell on top of Naydra while chasing him in a chasm and I ended having a first class trip through the depths on top of him.

sooo cool :chick3:

in BoTW you couldn't land on top of a dragon. but now i guess you can ride them they're just chilling. I was just standing on Naydra's nose while he illuminated the whole place. what an amazing way to scope things out in a relaxing way :clap3:

Girl wait, did you run down Naydra's body at all? :deadbanana:

Spoiler

The dragons have collectible items along their bodies where they have little spikes in their backs: they're called "shard of [dragon's name] spike." So you'll want to land on every dragon at least once to collect the shards. Scales, claws, fangs, and spikes... so many dragon drops this time around :deadbanana2:

I've been farming the hard way when I could've just picked flowers lol

Finished the Water Temple.

This game definitely makes me feel stupid.  Having to look up majority of the puzzles.

The solutions on youtube always impress me though, lol

thanks to your recommendations, I finally took the plunge and spent a few hours in the depths

where are the actual things to do (besides being chased by mobs/finding lightroots) :doc: ?

The first time i figured u could land on one i was so shooketh that i did not even consider that, so u r not alone :rip:

Also u might wanna stay on 1.1.1 just incase u wanna duplicate after u finish the game :gaycat4: it's a nice QOL

If u haven't figured out the Depths quest yet, u should go to the hole near the Lookout Landing iirc. Either that or talk to Robbie/his assistant at Lookout Landing.
