Obviously don't know which one you did, so I won't spoil the reward, but I did a colosseum fight in the bottom right corner of the map just a few hours after landing in Hyrule and it was a nightmare :bibliahh: I only had 4 hearts and a handful of weapons, but I was determined to win :toofunny3: So I mostly had to collect enemy weapons as I went. But I did it and loved the reward.

Oh I'm sure this must have been a nightmare with such early gear, but on the bottom left of Central Hyrule there is one called floating colosseum and let me just say.. do not go there before having really strong gear, lots of food or perfect shooting / dodging skills :deadbanana2: But I love these colosseums overall

I’m really interested to see where they take the art direction for the next Zelda. I feel so attached to the BOTW/TOTK style that anything else would feel like a skyward sword downgrade.

This game is a war crime simulator :rip:

The sages suck. They are slow af and Most of the enemies dont Even Interact With them and only come after me :rip: also the ai is dumb af. The amount of times they run away from me when i Want to activate Their ability. Doesnt help that the controls are slow and clunky

It’s incredibly shameful every dungeon aftermatch is the same :rip: they literally show the same flashback cutscene just with another sage model. This game already has barely any story and when they show something it’s just lazy.

Goddamn I'm going at a snail's pace compared to y'all

that’s why I started to skip cutscenes. The writing with voice acting combo is also too much for me, its so bad

50 hours in and still haven't touched the story. I didn't unlock even 1 Great Fairy wtf? also where the **** is Hestu? I have like 70 koroks collecting dust ...

I've racked up 40 shrines though, I have a 2nd stamina wheel complete but haven't upgraded my hearts because I don't want to be overpowered when I touch the story. So I  have like 20+ "light of blessing" just sitting there.

But I've cleared so many enemies and collected so much items/material on "the surface" (+caves) and also "the depth" that I think the ship of me not being overpowered for the main quest has sailed now. Even if I don't upgrade my hearts, I have too much tools to f**k **** up :dies:

I've just stumbled into the "Autobuild" ability just now by random luck in "the depth". How the **** were you supposed to find it? I have to guess it's a quest that I didn't unlock.

What do you guys think about the whole "Tears of the Kingdom makes Breath of the Wild redundant" debate?

I love TotK more than BotW, but I can see how someone could enjoy the freedom/relative simplicity of Breath of the Wild more. Twitter discourse of Zelda always hurts my head. :coffee2:

I think there's still reason to return to BOTW. TOTK might supercede it in most ways, but the main thing it has above its sequel is that simplicity. It's a more quiet, somber tone throughout and in the overworld. There's less to think about. I find it relaxing in comparison to TOTK.

Guys I was mind king my own business and was on this platform  citadel thing across from the lightning Gleok and all of sudden these hands just rose from the ground the music changed to a bop and the sky went red

i just jumped off the cliff to the stairs and when I returned I found dark clumps :deadbanana4:

henny what was that and How can I reactivate it :rip:

I got the paraglider and did 2 shrines. I'm gonna explore the area around Lookout Tower before I head into the depths :dancehall2:

Loving this game so much and can probably confidently say I like it more than BOTW, but I don’t understand why the developers went the way the did with the story structure. I have all the dragon tears, but have only done 2 dungeons, so I’m so far ahead of where I should be in the story. I know they wanted that ‘freedom to do whatever’ feeling again, but they kinda dropped the ball on it. I think they should have either had the tears found in chronological order as you find them, or somehow restrict how far ahead you can get

You can't really tell a very cohesive story with such an open worlded game such as TotK

And what you're asking is basically for them to place "road blocks" in the game which defeats its purpose

Gameplay is what matters at the end of the day, why are people always so surprise Zelda story is so-so? Who cares when the gameplay and artstyle is superb

There’s an image of the glyphs in order somewhere in the map if you want to do them chronologically. It’s the best possible way to let the player follow the story on their own imo

Unlike BOTW's memories (where u already know the ending) if u accidentally watch the last few TOTK memories, u basically get spoilt. So i can see why u'd be pissed. I'd be furious if i saw the final memory mid way. But they also pretty directly tell u what the memory order is if u go to a certain area (which the game tries to get u to go to early on too) When i went there i basically made a shitty image tracing out the exact order of memories & did my exploring that way.

Towards the end there was 1 memory i unintentionally watched out of order, but i honestly preferred it :jonny5: the way everything clicked in my head :jonny5: Can't wait till everyone finishes so i can elaborate, discovering things for the 1st time in BOTW / TOTK is truly an experience u can only have once  :jonny5:

This was the shitty memory order image i made, in relation to the TOTK map:

This is cracked asf :bibliahh:

Also I agree that the sages abilities suck. IMO you shouldnt have to go near them to activate it. A minor qol improvement like that could make the sages way better

I did the glitch today and bought the armors. I want my link to look good while im running around :-*

I decided to finally progress in the main quest a bit

Spoiler

I'm doing Gerudo now and have to say it's already much more eventfull and atmospheric than Zora and Death Mountain. Rito was quite cinematic too but didn't expect Gerudo to slay that hard

I get this concern (as someone who found all the tears before doing the first dungeon :rip:) and don't really agree that limiting our ability to get tears would be "road blocks" in an open world game; they could very easily have the light dragon cry after we finish a temple, spawning 2-3 new tears to collect to put the story together. That wouldn't limit our ability to explore at all, and plenty of features are gated behind finishing the major dungeons, so this wouldn't be that out of the ordinary.

I feel like a link between worlds did it perfectly. It was very open air, but there was still a semi set path that you had to take.

I did follow the path from the forgotten temple so I didn’t spoil that part of the story for myself but (and major story spoilers)

Spoiler

I keep getting all these cutscenes about Zelda acting weird/shady but I’ve already long found that Ganondorf can use her as a puppet so it’s pretty clear that’s the situation. It’s jarring to know she’s a dragon in the sky while Link and the sages are seeing her walk around and Link isn’t like “actually that’s not her”

In breath of the wild when you progressed a certain point (like getting the master sword before fighting a divine beast) characters would make subtle comments about it. This time I’ve progressed very far and there is no acknowledgment of it.

I think the story is pretty solid from a Zelda standpoint, but my complaint about pacing I still feel is pretty valid. It’s not a diss on the game and it’s not hindering my enjoyment, it’s just very noticeable.

VERY THIS.

I did all the tears and then finally found myself in Kakariko Village after like 40 hours and

Spoiler

when they said they can't explore the ring ruins cause Zelda said so, I was like.... Sis, Link knows Ganondorf's puppet trick. Like just say that? And why isn't Impa intervening when I told her about the Light Dragon?

Exactly!! More story spoilers, but

Spoiler

I just finished all the dungeons and now I’m heading to the castle because we just saw ‘her’ and I’m just confused because I feel like at this point link should be explaining the situation to people. Even a minor change in dialogue like “oh that’s odd it might not be her, you should still go to the castle to find out” would completely fix the issue. Instead Link is told to go to the castle to find Zelda even though the light dragon is literally flying overhead on my way there..it’s just feels very disconnected
