Mirra Andreeva wins 1 & 2, and Coco Gauff wins 2 & 3. Andreeva and Gauff will play in the 3rd round, in what should be a glimpse to the future of women's tennis.

I love a good Russia vs USA match up. This rivalry will give Sharapova-Serena vibes

Interesting that Zverev struggled to get through the early rounds of Slams when he was at the top of his game and now that he’s in “meh” post-injury form he’s able to breeze through. :rip:

Seems like the smart money bet is Holger Rune winning the FO. He'll only need to beat one of Alcaraz, Djokovic, and Tsitsipas to win the title. Rune +950 feels like a steal here.

My heart wants my boy Rune to win, but my head says Djoker is still the safest bet for now if it involves real money.

Djoker really only got stopped by Rafa last year. Everyone knew that QF was the real final…

Hopefully he will find his form and peak here when the seeds keep collapsing on his path to SF.

Familiar names are desperately needed in QF/SF/F for the sake of this sport instead of random players getting lucky for once and then never seen again.

The absolute beast that Andreeva is already. Will be such a joy to watch her over the next years. :flame:

That has to be the biggest shocker of the tournament. Rybakina was playing so well and looked the one to beat.

Also, Rafael Nadal underwent posas surgery yesterday. Expected recovery time is 5 months: https://twitter.com/jon_wertheim/status/1664950633152106496

5 months from now would put us at the Paris Masters, which begins October 30.

Rybakina withdraws from RG

Now that Elena is out, Iga’s only threat is Saba at her best :lakitu:

Hope Elena will get well soon to defend her Wimbledon title!:monkey:

Or maybe Coco's match against Mirra is the turning point that propels her to her first slam title. Kind of like how that tough 3rd round match against Kim Clijsters at the 1999 US Open propelled Serena to hers.

Sabalenka getting questions about her relationship with the Belarus dictator and the Ukraine war. Not answering any of them and then not doing a press conference for the next round because she "didnt feel safe" :biblio:

I know if she wants to go back home she can't really say anything, but that doesnt feel right. At all

Gauff's forehand is terrible. She will never get be #1 with this game.

Svitolina’s comeback has been impressive. She bounced back pretty quickly.

Impressive. And you can’t outhit and outrun Kasatkina when you are rusty. Svitolina was more consistent and applied more pressure. Curious to see how she does next

It seems she’s playing more aggressively as well, especially on the forehand wing. Either way, making it to the QF at her first slam after having a baby is huge.
