Rigalo Posted April 21 Posted April 21 I really hope AS going forward won't just be non elim seasons, please GAWD. Do it like how GAS is supposedly doing it (right?) and chop 3-4 girls every few episodes 1

Basically every episode is gonna have the following format: WIN: 1 queen TOP2: 1 queen HIGH: 2 queens SAFE: 4 queens Anitta is the guest judge for ep. 3. Personally, I'm not a fan of this. It should only be reserved for the winners. I'll watch just to see Roxxxy stomp the season but 12 episodes of Jorgeous and Gottmik getting smoke blown up their asses (undeservedly) is gonna be a chore Reveal hidden contents Though watching Gottmik get the Shea AS7 treatment without making the finale is gonna be a moment most pleasing to me in my career uhhh 1
PMM Posted April 21 Posted April 21 i am so here for non eliminating season so much drag, so much runways, and i hope girls will gives us drama. AS7 is great to watch, the runways, the chemistry
unino Posted April 21 Posted April 21 i don't mind non elimination but make sure it's competitive. i'm not watching the girls chilling baby no. make them stress make them work! 1

Other wise we're looking at a season full of amandatori meetings and dawns AS9 is definitely testing the waters because are the big names in the room with us? Roxxxy is the only stand out for me from that cast. they really could've tweaked the format a little bit. I'd be pissed off if I got cast on AS10 expecting the non-elimination format, just to find out we're back to voting curious to see the reception to this season, I hope people dislike it so they're forced to change it back lol (not to mention 12 eps with 8 queens is too many) Edited April 21 by ainadalkaz
GoodGuyGoneGhetto Posted April 21 Posted April 21 7 hours ago, Aston Martin said: I can't blame you. Like I said, I'm watching for Roxxxy (and a few of the other queens like Shannel, Angeria, and I'm curious to see Plastique's TikTok money put to use on the runway) but the format is irritating. This format should be reserved for an All Winners cast only. This is absolutely pathetic and not necessary. 3
GoodGuyGoneGhetto Posted April 21 Posted April 21 (edited) That said, I agree with @JO1s point. Moving forward, I feel as though this is the only way in which they will get established names to partake in an AS season moving forward. Respectfully, this series started to fall off post AS5 with only AS7 rejuvenating it and that is because it featured famous, culturally significant drag queens that we all know and admire. After the mess that was AS8, it makes sense they would reuse this format albeit it's ridiculous and annoying at the same time. This is also why they gave the queens a runway fee and other expenses to this season. If we do get AW2, RuPaul and WOW would have to heighten the prize money (possibly to $300K) if they want to another heavy-hitting cast with queens who said they'd be interested in it ie. Bob, Bianca, Sasha V, Aquaria, Symone, LC etc. 49 minutes ago, ainadalkaz said: AS9 is definitely testing the waters because are the big names in the room with us? AS9 most certainly has far more recognisable names in LGBT/Pop culture, with bigger fanbases, than AS8 did ie. Plastique Tiara, Vanjie, Roxxxy Andrews and GottMik especially. AS8 featured more queens that we knew from the earlier seasons that had (low-key) fallen off or were forgotten which is why alot of people called it the "reintroduction" season. Graves Posted April 21 Posted April 21 12 eps is too much for a non-elim season. I dunno. I feel like a new gimmick would be welcome. Rest All Stars for a couple years now that Global AS is a thing. Let the US talent pool refill a bit. Up the prize money to sweeten the deal for the bigger girls. Give it a better platform for viewers. Non-elim is not the way to revive all stars imo.
dabunique Posted April 21 Posted April 21 I'm fine with non eliminations but da critiques have to be given if it's horrendous I do like a point system, if u land in da bottom 3 u lose points
LastKiss Posted April 21 Posted April 21 Not them doing this type of format for a cast with Jorgeous, Gottmik and Nina West like
loveisdead9582 Posted April 21 Posted April 21 I thought that I read that there would be negative critiques as well for this season? Things may have changed but I was under the impression that the judging was going to be a bit more normal - despite the non elimination format. Glad they're getting rid of the LSA format though.

AS8 was this close to be an early outs season until Jimbo got on it. And even among early outs, they can't even get the good ones lol.
Aston Martin Posted April 21 Posted April 21 If they're doing non elim going forward, at least make it themed. I've said this 97509247501275012 times at this point (sorry for anyone sick of hearing me say this ) but do all villains, all seamstresses, all comedy queens, all LSAs, ect. And then tailor the challenges of that season to whatever theme and cast you have. For example, I bet a lot of the strong seamstresses would love to come back if they were solely fighting for the title of the ultimate "fashion queen". Several challenges could obviously focus of just designing and creating looks with unconventional materials, some could be focused on solely designing a look without having to create it (maybe they have to design the look based on materials that they can only feel but can't see?). Maybe each of the cast has to write down a description of a design they've thought up and then those get randomly distributed for the other queens to make. Throw a ball or two in there. Maybe a makeover challenge where they bring in RuGirls who notoriously can't sew, pair them up with the contestants, and then only the non-seamstresses are allowed to touch the sewing machines and make the garments throughout the challenge. The real test would be which contestant can best teach a non-seamstress how to sew in a short amount of time. And then any of the usual staple challenges (like snatch game) get axed for that season unless they can somehow make it where sewing is the skillset being judged. And worst come to worst, they could just knock off Project Runway. Maybe it would get old after a while. But if they're sticking with non elim AS going forward, I'd rather watch a season where all the contestants have the same strong suit and are competing against each other in their respective elements (or make good TV in the case of All Villains) than watch a season where have the cast gets dragged through 12 episodes with forced positivity (even if they bomb a challenge). 4 1
Rotunda Posted April 21 Posted April 21 If anything, the non-elimination format should be reserved for vs.TW since those seasons are super short and a lot of the queens are ESL speakers who may be at a disadvantage in comedy challenges. The AS7 format was horrendous.

I think it'd be cute to have a one episode special (similar to the Holiday Spectacular), where they only brought back fashion queens for one challenge or LSAs for a tournament, but I imagine a whole season of one challenge would get some backlash from the fans. 1

I think if they did something like a series Holislay spectaculars and but made it for designers/comedy/runway/improv, etc and picked the top two from each one to make an all stars season that could be fun.
Aston Martin Posted April 21 Posted April 21 More AS9 tea from Reddit: From an unverified source (Anon 2 in the tea checker): - Promo theme is Celestial Goddess (black, white, blue, and purple color scheme) - Same format as AS7 () but the plunger is replaced - Premiere challenge is the design challenge: Angeria, Plastique, and Jorgeous apparently do really well - Keke Palmer is the premiere guest judge - Finale is NOT a LSFTC. It's apparently like the AS8 talent show but with some twist with the badges (like AS7). (I'm guessing this means that it counts for 2-3 badges?) - Ep. 11 is a S16-style lip sync smackdown - Cast is getting ruvealed next week - Gottmik apparently has at least 2 wins
Aston Martin Posted April 21 Posted April 21 Anon 4 clocked Keke Palmer as the premiere guest judge months ago. Same with Anitta being a guest judge (which someone else recently corroborated in the makeover spill from a little while back). Their final scorecard is: Top 3: Angeria, Roxxxy, and Vanjie 4th: Nina, Plastique, and Jorgeous 7th: Shannel 8th: Gottmik Which is what I'm going to continue to guess until more tea comes out closer to the season airing.

Edge Of Glory Posted April 22 Posted April 22 i wish they would just have more non-elim eps where the queens can showcase their stuff more like with reg seasons, instead of doing all out non-elim seasons like you can have the contents of a reg all stars, and but have a non elim premiere, lalaparuza, comeback challenge, etc all to allow these queens to show off more of their package without removing stakes in the way these non-elim no-negativity seasons do 1

If the non elim seasons were packing powerhouse queens like AS2, I think there'd be a big audience for it. I could've sworn I heard that it wasn't no-negativity this time around but my info may be off.
