Leptine Posted September 18, 2022 Posted September 18, 2022 'Pearl' is a prequel of an A24 horror movie that wasn't a box office hit to beging with, this franchise is obviously aimed to a niche audience like majority of A24 movies, not sure why people were expecting it to be a box office hit.

Deserves The Gay Phone's success tbh @Reverse Warholian

The husband was trash and daddy Jeffrey knew it. Spoiler Indeed it was very clichéd, done to death and a common trope in this type of survival horror-thriller. The scenario of being trapped 2000 foot up in the air with no way of going down is already terrifying in and of itself. Adding more “drama” into the mix doesn’t really dilute the dreading atmosphere nor does it make the story more effective in further distressing the audience. If the twist turned out to be that the friend was somewhat responsible for the husband’s death, it would have been much better imo.

But I'm glad the eternal rivalry is having its Re-Up moment, and **** ***** will win again of course
SmashingMiley Posted September 18, 2022 Posted September 18, 2022 Btw, MEN.com remains a pretentious try hard MESS and the worst horror movie released this year thus far, sorry nawt sorry

Companion Posted September 18, 2022 Posted September 18, 2022 Watched the Orphan 2 in theaters. It was above my expectations. For a reason I was watching it as the contination of the first movie and felt like some parts doesnt make sense But at the end I realized it was actually the 2 years earlier than the first movie lmao.
EDEJtheArtist Posted September 18, 2022 Posted September 18, 2022 I saw Pearl last night and was absolutely blown away, I really loved X so I was excited for this one but I didn’t expect to love it as much as I did. I highly recommend it, in my opinion it’s the best horror movie since Hereditary. Mia Goth deserves the Oscar for this.

They've included some obscure choices so far so I'm inclined to believe LM is still in contention. Need to stream Black Sabbath now. This scene - holy ****
TheBoss Posted September 19, 2022 Posted September 19, 2022 The fact both X and Pearl have a budget of 1M, had no idea

There are so many times in the movie where they had the chance to leave or fight back; yet they never did (except for the time they did leave but returned). Like in the car minutes before they cut the tongue off, you could see the father was looking at the keys while the guy was out talking to the other guy. TRUST YOUR INSTINCT, DO SOMETHING!!!!! The way I SCREAMED at my screen. I just know that I (Scandinavian myself) probably wouldn't have the balls to do anything either, but damn, that was their chance to fight back. And when they literally cut the tongue off, the father just allowed it and didn't even try to fight back the guy (and barely the mother either). Really a heart-wrenching movie. The way I thought 2/3 into the movie it was just going to be a slow and solemn movie that would end up with them getting the **** out of there but learning a lesson. popmusicisdead Posted September 19, 2022 Posted September 19, 2022 Barbarian was really fun. a breath of fresh air. it's similar to Speak No Evil in a way. so many red flags and lack of motivation to GTFO other than to advance the plot. like if that was me i'd be out of there after the first one @mellenthin
