Lemon Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 (edited) While comical content of Totally Killer was’t landing that much for me and critique of the 1980s social climate felt a bit forced, plot was driven dynamically, there is nicely packed ( familiar ) story, not too much convoluted time travel recipe and the end offers solid pay off. Everything looks smooth, mask is nice and creepy, Liana Liberato was kind of wasted ( dark horse Scream Queen ), deaths and killers were substantial enough. It is better than The Final Girls, Detention, Freaky, You Might Be the Killer and even on par, if not better, than Happy Death Day, to name a few similar movies. Enjoyable. Bonus point for using Shannon’s Let the Music Play, which is one of the best 80s disco/funk songs. And in one of the best chase scenes of the movie at that. Edited October 7, 2023 by Lemon 1
hypnodemiluv Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 Exorcist wasn't that bad.. sometimes it had cheap effects and there isn't enough scary moments but 2 lead children made good job. 4.9/10

Obviously far from good, but much better than DGG's last 2 messes and actually watchable-ish. Ann Dowd being a skinny legend and that happening to Ellen Burstyn > Now, the sequels are obviously gonna be the worst movies of all times, but we'll talk about that then. 1

I respect that it's a low budget production that commits to being over-the-top and has a great villain, but I can't get over how amateurish they look. Both look like a high production YouTube video Double the budget and hire some better cinematographers/writers for the next one I think what works best for them is the low budget production with top tier kills that most big hollywood horror movies haven't done in a long time and that makes them stand out. That being said, Terrifier 2 was a big upgrade in overall quality from the first so I have hope the 3rd one will take it the next level in production quality and campy extreme violence
Artur Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 New V/H/S was so good One of my favorites from the franchise 1

I know they will always be low budget camp but this was one of the best in the series It was so consistent And I love how the 80s grainy screens makes up for the low budget. The only episode that was kinda meh was the one with the Technology God, and it still entertained me a lot. I hope they keep releasing new movies every year.
Uncatena Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 both Terrifier movies are absolute ASS, but the special effects and some of the kills almost make them worth it. The bedroom scene in the second one is already iconic. 1
Drowned8World Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 (edited) i don't know if you already talked about this but When Evil Lurks is being called the best horror movie of the year. It has a 98% on RT and 73 on Metacritic. I saw a tiktoker reviewing this movie yesterday saying it was one of the most scary movie he ever watched or something like that. Did some of you watch it? it's an argentinian movie btw. Edited October 8, 2023 by Drowned8World 1

skankle Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 Terrifier 2 would be a classic if it wasn't like 45 minutes too long
hypnodemiluv Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 The Jester is sh*t, don't even bother 2/10
Leptine Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 Yeah 'Totally Killer' was a CW comedy basically, it was cute overall but too much teen for my tastes, I found the first part weak and I didn't like the main actress at all, honestly not my cup of Tea.
Roberto Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 The fact that Pearl is the best movie of the decade so far. Sorry to spill this hot true. 1

The Man Who Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 (edited) Totally Killer was amazing! It was up there with The Final Girls, Renfield, Cocaine Bear, Freaky, Happy Death Day and M3GAN on the comedy / horror legends list. Edited October 8, 2023 by The Man Who 1
