qurl Posted August 11, 2023 Posted August 11, 2023 Talk to Me is one of the best horror movies i’ve seen in ages. many horror movies use grief as a metaphor/running narrative for their movie , but this one does it so well and manages to keep it fresh there was an exact moment where i thought the movie could have gone a different direction and i was kinda stewing in the theater thinking “wow wish they had did this/“if i had directed it…” then 5 seconds later it subverted my expectations and gripped me again. kind of iconic that it came out almost 10 years to the day from The Conjuring bc it has that same type of feel: like you just watched one of THE best supernatural horror movies of the decade. and i think it cannot be understated that this movie felt very much targeted towards a teen audience, and in that sense it’s a movie for young people to watch at a formative age in their life and grow up with good taste in horror movies cuz it invites young viewers to care about things like good cinematography, narrative plots , and hopefully makes them go back in time and find the older inspirations for this movie truly a 9/10, some obvious flaws for me but most of it is overshadowed by stellar performances, mood, and genuinely creepy/scary moments 3

I guess im mentally still comparing to last year, which was just slay after serve after eat. anyway, im a Saw-***** so Saw X is gonna be the highlight of my hear, even though nothing is gonna top Talk to Me in terms of actually being scary I think.
GraceRandolph Posted August 12, 2023 Posted August 12, 2023 What do we think about a Nightmare on Elm Street reboot/reimagining/legacy sequel? I think it’ll probs be a mess and a letdown, but it’s such a great franchise I’d kinda like to see a return so the last installment isn’t that awful 2010 remake.

Think someone should be executed for them not making 3 more movies featuring Robert Englund during the 10 years period where every idea for a new entry by New Line Cinema fizzled out till they lost the rights lol and he was saying he'd love to come back but not for much longer cause he's getting older till nowadays where he says it's too late especially since every project didn't materialize. I can see the new movie happening in like 4-6 years though, as a direct sequel to Nightmare 1 (ala Halloween) featuring Heather as Nancy and a new actor as Freddy but good C.G.I making him look pretty similar to O.G Freddy or............. and just throwing this out there since it's already reality... they make Englund sign a good A.I contract with good money for him and his family, and they A.I recreate him . . . It can't just be a 2010 type remake, we don't live in the same period in time, no one would watch that.

Nightmare actually has good sequels that shouldn’t be retconned.

Lee Cronin would be my first choice tbh, but someone like Parker Finn or Nikyatu Jusu could do something interesting with the franchise as well.

I’d just be nervous that a modern ANOES movie would skimp on the budget. Dream Warriors and Dream Master felt like legitimate 80s blockbusters with their vfx.

The franchise was never anything special outside of 1 & 3.
