I'll be honest, I really wasn't expecting one of the actors from Sing My Crush to end up being the highest ranked KBL actor. SMC seemed like a not-really-high-profile show that went slightly under the radar. But an achievement is an achievement, and he is the best of the rest that's not from Thailand. And not everyone can claim that.

First is the only actor from last year's top 20 to appear in the top 10, and he is the only person to receive 7 mentions this year (64% of all voters have him somewhere in their votes). (The top 3 actors "only" received 6 mentions each.) In real life, he and Khaotung are the only Thai BL actors to have a fan meet in Brazil, underscoring his/their popularity.

 

Since his debut in 2018, the Cyber Business Management graduate has enthralled audiences with his outstanding dedication to his craft, whether as the soft and vulnerable Yok, or the multi-faceted Alan or Sand. I personally think his portrayal of Alan in MC was a career highpoint.

So, First is fourth, and Fourth is third. BL Math works in very strange ways.

 

It is a no-brainer that Fourth will be ranked very high this year, and he is the only actor to garner two #1 votes. It is perhaps more surprising that the St. GAY-briel's College alumnus is not #1, and trailing behind the actual winner by 20 points.

 

Fourth was really adorably cute in his proper TV debut, F4 Thailand. But it was his performances in the megahit My School President and the impressive Moonlight Chicken that garnered him the acclaim and the fans, and elevating him to the superstardom in mere months. The law undergraduate begins the new year by starring in the Thai adaptation of My Love Mix-up, and perhaps will soar to even loftier heights.

I expected Gawin to rank fairly high (max #5), so it was quite a pleasant surprise to see him make it all the way to claim the silver medal this year. GMMTV's King of OSTs is the 2nd of 3 actors from the GMMTV class of 2018 to rank within the top 4. Gawin finally scored an opportunity to play a lead role at the end of 2022 after Mike ChinnaRAT was forced out of the cast of Be My Favourite, and he proved the skeptics wrong by showcasing exceptional chemistry with the sometimes-loathed Krist Perawat. GawinKrist is probably just a one-off and in the new year, we will be treated to something even hotter - JossGawin in a vampire BL.

Before you say anything, no, I did not rig this and I did not bribe anyone.

 

Perhaps no other character has captured the imagination of BL watchers as much as Only Friend's Boston Kiatkangwan, the main chaos agent and the reddest flag in the most anticipated BL series of 2023. Or maybe it's just Neo's good looks and his killer bod that swayed the votes in favor of the former basketballer. Neo probably wasn't the initial odds-on favorite to snag the top step of the podium, but in the end, he was the only actor to receive 3 top 3 votes.

 

Despite being regularly cited as a crowd favorite with relatively few haters, Neo sometimes get shoved aside while his less deserving peers are promoted as main ships. Indeed, he is the only one in this year's top 5, and the only BL King winner to have never been featured as one of the 2 lead actors in whatever TV show he has starred in. Will 2024 be a better year for him? As of now, the loud-mouthed 22-year-old will be featured with this year's runner-up in My Golden Blood, but there's no word on the continuation of the NeoMark (or NeoLouis for that matter) ship or the continuation of the Only Friends universe. But will he continue to entertain us with his amusing antics, hot bod and good acting? I won't bet against that.

Neo is certainly a deserving winner. He is so into playing gay characters that he is at a loss when he has to pretend that he likes girls.   He is also the first BL King to express that he has a crush on is a fanboy of a previous BL King, Bright.

Neo is 14 points clear of Gawin. That's an impressive 11% lead over the #2. Not everyone can claim that.

If BL King had taken place in the traditional May-Jun period, then it would most certainly have been a Fourth-Film showdown and Gemini (and Satang) would have been ranked higher. Gawin might have sneaked in a top 10, since BMF was on its first 6 episodes. Neo would have probably not scraped the top 10 I guess.
