It was so cute and fluffy and the production quality was very high!!! There were eyebrow raisers like the weird teacher crush thing, that one second homophobe that become a gay rights activist after some ramen lolz and sadly yeah, the jarring overacting of my bb Aoki at many points, like he needs to just tone it down a bit and be on everyone's level and this would be a COLLAPSE. I HATE how many mainstream Jbls are so weird about kisses like if you are that uncomfortable with it then why are you here??? idk i just think a kiss would have done so much for their relationship and would have stopped them from being so dense on what they feel for each other. Ida husband material fr fr even tho he got on my nerves a bit and my bb Hashimoto is a perfect example of why bls need more female cast members to balance it all out, overall adorable and enjoyed my time THOROUGHLY! Probably the worst opinion you gave in this thread. Legend Michieda Shunsuke gave an accurate, charsimatic and comedicl MANGA-FAITHFUL portrayal for his role as Aoki. And he was amazing at it. His "over the top" portrayal contrasted with all the other characters (Meguro's Ren quiet prince charming Ida, Suzuki Jin's ironic but sweet Aida and BLAmmy winner Fukumoto Riko's turn as Hashimoto) is what made the show an amazing timeless masterpiece. The tablet in the middle has Zhang's name (the gay man who slashed himself in Ep 1) written on it. His full name is Zhang Zhitian or 张志天. I say it is probably anachronistic because these are simplified Chinese characters. While traditional Chinese characters had been naturally undergoing simplification, it was only in the 1950s that the Communisy government in China made a strong push for simplifcation. Considering the show took place in 1943, it was unlikely that ethnic Chinese people were using simplified characters for official things. His name would probably have been rendered as 張誌天. The strange thing is that the other names on the other tablets are all written in traditional characters LMFAO. I saw different sources saying that the market opened at 10am and others said at 3pm but bc I wanted to see the lanterns lit at night so to be safe, I went around 4:30. I did a whole MLC tour around Pattaya before getting a grab to the market. The market is full of locals, barely any tourists. The area is absolutely stunning. Uncle Jim’s restaurant is a duck/noodle shop. I was nervous to dine-in bc I only knew a small amount thai but there are a few photos on the menu so I just pointed at the food and the staff jot down what I wanted. I had dessert at the soymilk shop(or porridge shop from ep1 “I like eating old people” scene) after. And I was shocked to find out that the soymilk shop is connected to Uncle Jim/Li Ming’s home. You get to see the entire living room and Uncle Jim’s desk area. It literally feels like you’re in MLC. HUGE NOTE: Ban Chak Ngaeo is further in-land, pretty fair from Pattaya’s beach/tourist area. It was very difficult getting a grab to take us to the market bc it’s so far and there were NO grabs near the market area to take us back. We were lucky to have called a taxi to pick us up but paid a hefty price for it. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND, you either rent a car to drive around or pay for a personal driver. It’s the best way to get to and from the market especially if you want to stay late enough to see all the lanterns at night. Honestly, if you’re mainly in pattaya to sight see for MLC, I would say a personal driver might be best option.
