Nebur Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 First Note of love ep 1 and 2 New Bl Taiwan The truth is, I like this camp rock type plot. Sea is super cute
dabunique Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Tomorrow is da finale of Sparks Camp and after da mess of da last episode i'm so ready to see what happens
Da Vinci Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Compared all three Addicted/Heroin adaptations and the Thai one is still too new and gives me cognitive dissonance so I'll give it another try when it's fully completed before I judge it I also checked out the original Addicted (2016) and I keep forgetting how much of an actual CREEP Gu Hai was Spiking the drink with sleeping pills to LETHAL levels, the constant sexual harassments with that goofy smiling expression, the kidnapping, the extreme violence towards other people, jesus I'm starting to wonder if the subsequent RUTHLESS CENSORSHIP towards ALL Chinese BLs because of this one show was actually worth it? Like sure it was many people's first BL so it always be seen with nostalgia goggles or rose colored glasses I guess. Bai Luo Yin also has an annoying pouting face that he puts on for 99% of the series which doesn't help. It's like how Skam Season 3 was MY first LGBT series technically but even I can objectively say that it really aged too and was a product of its time, even though I will always respect it shedding light on issues like mental illness and self-hating homophobia Gay With Me isn't perfect but it's by far the best Addicted to me though I just realized that they added Duo (propaganda to get the birth rate up) and her family arc to appease the CCP but I'm not even mad cause I love Duo and her dynamic with the 2 gays

Yes of course! But for now I've made peace with one season only. I think I'm gonna continue Blue Censors of Cancelled Days as well, at least Episode 4 didn't end badly or with a horrific cliffhanger. (But after I'm finished rewatching Gay With Me though, I'm still enjoying it lol) Slay With Me was the best non-Thai BL from 2023 for me (and 3rd overall, after The Warp Effect and Only Fans). A well-written script (no stupid kidnapping plot) and great acting, especially by Brian Xu Bin. Episode 22 with that kiss scene in the dark gagged me (not withstanding the fact that their fujoshi classmate witnessed the entire thing, heh). Xu Bin's fight scenes were terrific and it seems like he did them without a stunt double. And most importantly, he looked hot and suave after the fight scenes. Xing Chen Shan Yao (The Shining Stars) was low-key the best non-theme song from last year as well. You can even hear Xu Bin and Jiong Min trying their damndest to hit the high notes, which is kinda endearing in some ways. Chai Ji Dan and the crew were lucky to have this filmed in 2021 in Qingdao and released in 2023, before XJP Winnie The Poop and his agencies started cracking down even harder. I am of course disappointed that there will only be 1 season of SWM, but frankly, I consider ourselves lucky that all 24 episodes managed to get aired. I only hope it will get better after XJP steps down (in 2032 I guess?) Xu Bin and Jiong Min did badly in last year's BL King because I think you were the only one who voted for them. But I will be voting for at least Xu Bin this year. He's one of my top 3 newly discovered actors from the past 9 months or so (alongside Gap and Poon). 1
Genius1111 Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Addicted (Large Age Gap version) Ep 1 is out! For some reason, WeTV privated their videos on YT, but there's this uncut version without subs. Hopefully they will sort out this mess. 1

I have the CUt version that lasts 46 minutes with subtitles but I don't want to see it because I want to see the uncut version but if I don't find it here when I get home from work at night I'll have to watch the cut version in the meantime

While Addicted has the most chemistry and the sexiest scenes of the 3, it is also the one with the most horrid storyline, and that's already taking into account the hazing in SOTUS and the high-five in 2gether. The second couple in OG Addicted weren't even that good-looking. Slay With Me had the best looking group of four, methinks. Now that I think about it, OG Addicted is basically the ancestor LITA featuring RainPayu and PraiSky. People get blinded by the hotness of Timmy and Johnny and the LITA actors and forget that the original storylines were trashy. Hell, even LITA had a dumb kidnapping scene. ____ Going back to Slay With Me, I kinda missed out on the "Duo" (pronounced like the first syllable of dwarf, for those who don't speak Mandarin) being a HOMOphone of "more" (as in having more children"), though the "Duo" in her name refers to the counter/counting word for flower. But that's the magic of the SWM. While it lacks in intimacy, it makes up for it in many other areas.. There are all these little eater eggs that you can pick out as you watch the show. Like the parents' day concert, Li Duo's two brothers were the ones dancing sexily to a Handel tune (and Handel might have been gay?), and Li Duo telling the audience to back off from her brothers may be alluded to Chai Ji Dan trying to defend her creations from further harm (by the CCP and their hardcore supporters). Wu Bi, Su Yu and Li Duo are a reconstitution of 3 kids from 3 sets of biological parents coming to form their own cohesive unit, and somewhat challenging the CCP's and conservatives' notions of "family values". 1
Genius1111 Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Don't shut down GMMTV before Only Friends 2 is released!
Genius1111 Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 I like how most people agree that Neo has been able to pull off multiple comedic characters splendidly.
Genius1111 Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 Addicted (large age gap version) appears to be flopping like Woman's World, so I guess we will never have the 2nd season of the stepbrothers after the 8 year time skip. Unless of course Taiwan, Japan or S Korea come to save the day.

Tbh I don't know if the original was as popular in Japan and Korea as it was in the rest of Asia/worldwide?

Da Vinci Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 MDLers on the Addickted 2024 page clutching their pearls at the actors' age gap as if the actors themselves will be having sex BTS The bigger crime is that the original creator Chai Ji Dan isn't involved in any of the writing so it will probably be botched anyway

Nebur Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 (edited) Addicted heroin version cut 46 minutes ep 1 As a die-hard fan of the series/book I actually liked the adaptation, personally when I know that they will adapt something I DON'T EXPECT IT TO BE THE SAME AS THE ORIGINAL, I like to see the substance of the new work and THANK GOD there's no stupid music every minute or blatant advertising, so that's a good point (it's with you GMMTV) What discouraged me is the character of Bai Louyin/Pop, I mean he's cute and the actor is decent, but the way he plays him is very soft nothing compared to the one in the book, however he has his traits a little surly so mmm I don't know As for hero/gu hai, although he is softer than the one in the book, it seems to me that I portray him at least 60%, however he is very soft but I like this lighter version of their personalities As for the UNCUT version 58 minutes ep 1 EIGHT years later I liked how they portrayed it in their own way but very faithful to the beginning of the second book the approach and the changes in the script give it its own essence but the production company must fix this mess of the uncut version, and make it available to everyone... they must fix that if they don't want FLOP HARD Edited August 14, 2024 by Nebur
Katamari Posted August 15, 2024 Posted August 15, 2024 Sunsetxvirigin is a chop im fuming will they ever get a decent script Mosbank seeving maxtul level of acting gaps but at least the TWM saga was decent
