Not sure if you are keen to submit. I think I'll just give it a pass this time around since I was pretty much out of loop this year.

Genius1111 Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 I finally started on Laws of Attraction Ep 1. Jam has improved significantly from TSWL, and he did so in just under a year. He was terrific at his crying and angry scenes and I really was not expecting that. Like most other ships, JamFilm are much better at portraying arguing scenes than lovey-dovey scenes. Their lovey-dovey scenes in TSWL, to me, were alright.

Genius1111 Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 My Tooth Your Love was a show that I enjoyed more than I had expected. It wasn't really deep and had a few plotlines that I didn't really fancy, but maybe it was because of Bai Lang's hotness that I enjoyed it more than it really deserved. Quote I had the same reaction as you and was informed it's a cultural thing and not uncommon at all. That doesn't mean that I like it, but at the same time if it's culturally correct and what's happening (and they should know their own culture) then I guess it's fitting to show that in a show. Especially opposed to the totally chill attitude parents have in most BLs when it comes to their kids being gay. One perfect example on different though was Moonlight chicken when the uncle, gay himself, loses it over his nephew being gay saying "We're poor and now you are gay on top of it? Do you know how difficult your life will be?" I thought that was such a sad but refreshing drop of honesty. Quote But it was not uncommon when I was a kid (I'm not the youngest thing around here though, and grew up in a typically strict Chinese environment). I was caned a lot in school and at home, for reasons ranging from 'You fought with your sister', to 'You didn't help your sister with her homework' to 'You did not score an A in class' (still salty about the last one, we were caned once for each mark below distinction, as 8 year olds). My dad prefer making young kids kneel in the dark crying as a form of punishment. I was sort of lucky though, I had cousins who actually got belted on the back (exactly like Xun An) as kids, though everyone I know who had that happen to them was all guys. How I read it, was that dad was disappointed (and upset) that Xun An decided to go for a guy. Acceptance is not really because dad suddenly overcame homophobia after a couple beatings, but rather, dad still loving Xun An despite that, and so trying his best to welcome his SO. Realistically, it would probably take closer to a few years to reach that stage (but ey, only 11 episodes). Not trying to argue for why this is alright (I definitely think it is NOT), just trying to say that it isn't really that unexpected. What threw me off was when Bai Lang accepted Xun An's feelings, Xun An just flipped and stormed off. Like huh?! But I am about 90% sure that only happened because they wanted to take that whole long ass scene going about the neighbourhood (which was beautifully shot, so I half forgive that). Also weird that Xun An denies ever loving his senior, as if you can only love one person in your entire life. But this is probably a 'BL' thing. Like no one else is supposed to have ever experienced 'true love' until that one person shows up. *rolls eyes*
Genius1111 Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 It's Halloween! Has anyone started watching Shadow (with Fluke N, Singto and Fiat) and its 7 episodes?

Genius1111 Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 (edited) I just finished Bed Friend a few hours ago, and that show shouldn't have dragged on for 10 episodes. It was really written for the fujoshis. Before watching, I thought it would be more akin to Only Friends, but oh well. I feel really bad for Uea. He was sexually assaulted by his step-dad, ex-boyfriend and manager. That may have been a little too excessive (but then again, IRL, there are surely women and a few men who have been sexually assaulted by more than one person). When Uea went back to his childhood home and was surrounded by three villains (his mum, his step-dad and boss), I was like . I was also kind of expecting the step-dad and boss to fight it out to see who would be the "lucky one" to take advantage of Uea. James did a good job with his portrayals. Net is so hot and from some angles he looks like Tay Tawan when he was younger. ___ Now, on to Middleman's Love, it looks absolutely tragic and lame and if I watch it, it is for Net. Genius1111 Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 It ends of with Win Metawin, looking like his character (Ajin) from Enigma. (Which, by the way, has been nominated for many awards and should be watched.)
Genius1111 Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 Dew is the main lead of Faceless Love, but the hottest guys in the show are Luke and Pepper. Pepper looks like a leading guy, and I don't know why he hasn't gotten a leading role yet. He was not bad in that meh show Star In My Mind, and he should have been featured more in Dangerous Romance.
