Nintendo Base | Switch 2 launches June 5th; Trump tariffs HALT pre-orders

The problem isn't inflation per se, it's that wages have not kept up with inflation. I'm making almost the same I did a few years ago, give or take a few dollars, but things are so much more out of my price range these days that weren't back then :deadbanana2:

Anyway. I'm most likely going to give them my money next week when preorders open... but we'll see if I cancel last minute lol

BOTW switch 2 version being 80€... a 2017 game... :deadbanana2:

Looks like I won't buy a brand new Nintendo game on release day in a long time. Buying second-hand games have never felt so good before :dies:

I appears so. That would mean the cartridge slot will be only used with Switch 1 games :dies:

yeah, but I doubt this will ever be the case of any BIG game tbh. Only lazy developers will do this (Square Enix).

Spoiler

I hope so

I ******* hate Square Enix with a passion

what the **** do you mean you can't put a 11GB game into a cartridge?

Bravely Default being digital only because they are lazy as ****. I just can't anymore.

Gotta collect those coins when they release an OLED version of the Switch 2 a couple of years later

Oh, not them lowkey calling Bravely a flop...

And Playstation is the expensive one :suburban:

I think the price for the console is fine considering the current market but the games being $80-$90 is absolutely ATROCIOUS

It's Nintendo slowly trying to kill physical game collecting for me, guess I'll be spending the next year completing my Switch 1 wishlist instead

Have we heard anything about the games being region locked?

I'll probably get the Switch 2 next year only, it's going to be hella expensive over here. :rip:

If Trump's newly announced tariffs go through y'all are going to be praying that Nintendo honors the prices announced today :ahh:

Mario Kart looks great, but those prices are ridiculous. Guess I'll be sticking with my old Switch for now, I still have tons of games to finish and we have some new ones coming out in the future too, so I'll be fine.

I was so lucky to experience buying a game for 40€... I remember saving money for the new Pokemon game back in the day. If I had to save 90€, I would've never bought a single game. Poor children.  :rip:

This! Like, the first game I ever got was Pokémon Emerald in 2005 for € 40 (I know that because I kept the receipt inside the box until today, no idea why lol); throughout the DS and 3DS eras, games were € 40; even on the Switch, I don't think I ever paid more than € 50 for a game thanks to sales and special offers from Mediamarkt and other stores. I'm aware of inflation and everything, but € 90 for a video game is just taking the piss.

The absolute most I am willing to pay for a game is € 60, so if that's not enough for Nintendo, I guess I'll just keep playing my old games instead. :bird:
