thatsmydemi Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Rune Factory looking like Genshin Impact... I'm going to pretend this is the switch version they announced years ago and we never got I can't stop thinking about the trailer. This might be my first RF game. I have some questions... what is this franchise about? I remember some things from the trailers of the previous games... isn't it like some farming game? This one adds more rpg features?

I remember some things from the trailers of the previous games... isn't it like some farming game? This one adds more rpg features? Rune Factory was initially a spin-off series of the first-of-its-kind farming & dating sim Story of Seasons (formerly called Harvest Moon) that, alongside those 2 gameplay mechanics, also added a combat system (real time RPG) and dungeon crawling. So in SOS/HM games where you make money through mining, selling crops, buying animals and selling their byproducts, fishing, mining, cooking- in RF games you can do all of that and also sell loot drops from killing monsters, craft weapons & armor (that can also be sold), and instead of having typical animals like cows/sheep/chickens you can recruit monsters who will fight with you (some also do have the standard byproducts like eggs, milk). Since there is a lot more to do, farming is much more optional in RF games compared to SOS/HM, but you're probably required to do at least a little bit of everything to do well. Even marriage/befriending townspeople is optional. The franchise itself isn't super deep tbh. Each game in the series has the trope of the protagonist having amnesia and saving whatever town/world you're in through some sort of evil villain. The numbered games are pretty much all more formulaic with each other, but there's also spin-offs that are a bit more unique (Rune Factory Frontier, Tides of Destiny, and then this upcoming one). Which is prob why it looks better than RF5 did Honestly, these games go on sale incredibly often so you may as well try one out. RF4 is the one most would recommend, as would I since it's the most polished and the last game before the company that made RF went out of business so they really put their all into the game (even if I think it's overrated...). RF3 is a good option too. It's a lot quicker to play through, faster-paced, little less complicated. Probably my favorite of the numbered games. I've been a Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons/Rune Factory stan for the longest time, I gotchu

FOCK Posted September 1 Posted September 1 (edited) Nintendo Live 2024 Sydney was cute. I had read experiences about the extended queues and wait times for the store on day 1, so I didn't bother with that & prioritised the meet & greets. Was lucky enough to snap pics with Pikachu, Kirby & the legendary voice of Mario himself, Charles Martinet! They had pretty cool life-size sculptures of Kirby & Link/Zelda. The Mario Dojo was well done, too. Overall, it was visually impressive, I think they kinda cheaped out on the freebies though - It's a free lottery event, but I expected maybe more opportunities to win stuff in mini tournaments etc. The Nintendo Live goodie bag you get on entry was pretty sweet. Got a lanyard, stickers, pins & a gold commemoration coin. Cute way to have spent a Sunday, overall. Edited September 1 by FOCK 2

xXavril Posted September 3 Posted September 3 I'm so glad there was only a 2 month wait! After waiting 4 years for Tears of the Kingdom it is so refreshing to already be in the release month! I've been hyped since the first trailer, but every single piece of information we've gotten since has just made me more excited

Magickarp Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Surprised they invited Zeltik back after he thrashed TOTK but omg why does this look so good A lot of spoilers for up until the end of the 1st dungeon tho. But traditional dungeons It's like melding BOTW's openess with traditional Zelda if this were in an Octopath artstyle it would be perfect 1

I love BOTW and TOTK but I just want my linear progression storyline with dungeons with puzzles back 2

xXavril Posted September 5 Posted September 5 (edited) Everyone who has done an extended review of the game keep saying that the Nintendo reps say it's a brand new Hyrule, but it's not?? Like yeah it's definitely expanded and there are noticeable changes, but where Hyrule castle is and the surrounding areas are identical to ALTTP/ALBW. We've seen the rock formation and the eastern pace to the east, we've seen the hill to link's (missing) house to the west, and the area even west of that is the same. The desert is also in the same location (but it is greatly expanded) Lake Hylia is also at the same place to the south east, and even includes the same island in the middle. Also, based on the map we've seen it looks like the graveyard and sanctuary are both in the same spot north of the castle. There are definitely a lot of changes, like the addition of Eldin Volcano to the north west and Kakoriko in a new location, the Suthorn area, Faron Wetlands, Mount Hebra (which is still in the same location) being snowy, and Jabul waters in the north east but the very center of the world is the same and it seems like a bit of a stretch to say it's a brand new Hyrule. This isn't a complaint, as I don't necessarily care that much that the worlds echo each other, but it seems like the Nintendo reps are trying to gaslight us a bit Edited September 5 by xXavril
Magickarp Posted September 5 Posted September 5 I won't play it cuz i don't like platformers, but it would be iconic if the Switch 2launched with a "Nintendo Odyssey" game like this
Aethereal Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Mario Wonders completely eclipses Sonic Superstars. Sonic Superstars does not match up to Classic Sonic Generations. I wished every Sonic gameplay was an imitation of Generations (especially background wise) with some minor graphics improved to match the 20s quality of games. (it was perfect for it's time)
