It's insane how being the best contestant has no bearing on the winner anymore.

It's like everything is decided during the first two episodes and done. Willow slayed Ru during her spagetthi bath thing, after that she won. Doesn't matter that she fizzled out (or was the worst at some points : girl group challenge for exemple ) or was given a payola'd win during the ball or didn't win sh*t afterwards.

Camden worked her ass off and had the highest highs out of everyone, statistically was a better contestant but who cares ?

 

Imma be real with y'all, i'm a purist when it comes to track record. The person with the best stats should win, almost ALWAYS. (Now mind you this show is rigged af so that's why i kept a score sheet the whole season and even in mine, Camden had 4 wins). The amount of FAKE winners in the last seasons has just been insane. Talent seems to be the most frivolous aspect of what makes a winner now on Drag Race.

 

Something happened during the S9 finale that broke the show. It has never been the same since. So congrats Willow on continuing the tradition of incorrect/produced winners.

There would be no point in a finale if it was solely based on track record. You’d just crown whoever on the last competitive episode and other girls wouldn’t even be in contention even if they’re finalists. Boring and no stakes. 
 

Good thing y’all aren’t producers cause this show would have been cancelled already. And we’d have boring winners like Rosé, Gigi and Brooke. It’s actually particularly funny because alot of these good track records come from payola, which is apparently what the winners get when they win? 
 

Camden needs to work in her branding to become more marketable if she wants to win. Willow washed her in that regard, no wonder she won.

Loved Symone’s look and think Willow felt like the right winner. A really good season despite how stretched thin it felt towards the end.

I used to be a track record purist on Drag Race stuff but in the latest seasons there's a real disconnect between whoever had the "best track record" and who the actual stars are. I don't know if it's just a failure on the editors or the showrunners for not realizing who has IT earlier and judging accordingly, or if the format of drag race is just so stale that it's easy to game the system for some queens.

 

Like, going by track record we'd have the likes of Rosé, Ella Vaday and Lady Camden as winners and that's tragic. 

 

I think that, with some exceptions (Bimini), the right winners have been crowned.

Start saying you trans, and find a disability or crutch. Something that garners woke points from the Hollywood neoliberal press.  Is crippling depression a disability bc the rape stuff had no effect on getting ru to empathize  with you. (Looks at Blair st Clair)  It’s not trendy anymore since Gags made that song.

I think that, with some exceptions (Bimini), the right winners have been crowned.

My perception is that in the last years they’re throwing wins to who they feel is less likely to win as a consolation prize. If they’re in the US they also get money from each win which is a big plus.

It’s clear that we’re getting these weird finale formats because the producers don’t want the show to just become RuPaul’s Track Record Race. The issue is that the finales themselves are often as rigged as the random challenge wins they give out sometimes, which makes everything seem like a waste of time. 
 

 

- Aquaria was apprently slipping and falling against Eurka 

 

- Yvie vs Akeria was a mess 

 

- Daya clearly had the best number 

 

- S12 was the weird covid finale so I’ll let it slide

 

- S13’s was just bad because none of them can lip sync 

 

If you want the finale to matter it really needs to be this massive challenge where the girls get to show all their stuff and prove they earned it.

Purr, the closest thing we have is Aquaria and the b!tch was reportedly dog-walked by Miss Eureka The Elephant Queen all over that stage during their Lipsync battle but Ru saved her so she could win no matter what in the end. A produced winner.

This is no longer true for regular seasons lol. 

Sasha, Aquaria, Yvie, Jaida, Symone, Willow...all won their last lipsync fairly (or because the second place did worse, like Camden having that wig fuckup). 

The only OBVIOUS production-guided decision in the post s8 finales has been Aquaria's tie with Eureka (Eureka completely destroyed her).
