Not Dawn being Jay Kay's drag sister

Can Plasma be first out please? She seems like the worst weaponized BFA gay yet

I LOVE Nymphia, that promo look is great

I'm ngl this cast does look a bit underwhelming compared to S15s

Also leave it to the fanbase to play devils advocate for Plane Jane when we have actual drag queens she has worked with calling her trash. I’m sure they have a better barometer of what is and isn’t acceptable at a show and they are the reason she’s being “cancelled” right now

I’m not advocating in any way for PJ, but it seems like everyone is dog piling onto the one post of that one event. Jay Kay was there as a witness. Everyone else is just adding their two cents.

Again, I’m not saying PJ was in the right at all (say it with me - consent is sexy) but unless I’m missing something, this is all in response to the one occurrence

I’ve been to countless drag shows in over 10 major cities and I have never seen nor been a part of a queen inappropriately someone in the audience.

Ironically, I’ve seen it but it was the audience members being inappropriate with the drag queens.

I saw Bob and Monet back in London a few years ago during their “Sibling Rivalry” tour and one fan in particular, who got really drunk, tried to grab for Bob’s crotch and he had him kicked out.

Monet was doing her lip-sync and purposely entertained this fan for a little, they then kissed on the lips, grabbed each others waist, everyone cheered and Monet walked away. Later when Bob came to do his performance, and was in the crowd, the same fan got back up and tried to do the same with Bob as with Monet. He then slapped Bob’s ass, and tried to go for his crotch and kiss him and Bob was LIVID. Called security and everything. :rip:

Yeah, both of them are giving clout chasers to me.

What Jane’s done is inappropriate but I think it’s really being blown out of proportion because social media does what social media does best. Exaggarate.

Thankfully I haven’t seen that though I know the reverse happens far too often. The worst I’ve encountered is drunk fans hugging the queens or dancing alongside them in a number.

Koco Caine does not need to be a clout chaser :rip:

I mean, it doesn't mean that stuff like that doesn't happen. Maybe now less often than a some years ago, but queens like Detox, Willam, Katya and Shangela (just to name a few) have been known to act inappropriately with the audience during their shows.

I’ve been to several Katya shows back 8 years ago or so and other than performing P*ssy by Lady she didn’t do anything inappropriate with the crowd. Maybe prior to that but nothing I ever witnessed.

Is Plain Jane's crime the grabbing of an audience member's genitals during her number? I've had that done to me countless times over the years and I found it flattering to say the least. I don't understand how someone can be "hurt" or "abused" by sth like this, especially when you're gay and have a grasp of the culture.

What a gross post. I'm happy for you that you're able to take it that way but if something like that happened to me I would definitely feel violated :biblio: part of being gay and having a grasp of the culture is having empathy for other people and understanding that not everyone feels the same way you do

If I was at a show and a performer touched my genitals I would be leaving immediately and certainly would not be supporting them ever again. I don't think I'd want them to be completely cancelled but I'd definitely feel icky if I were to see them on Drag Race in the future

I’ve seen drag shows where the queens get , let’s say “friendly” with the audience but I’ve never seen a queen reach down anyone’s pants or anything.  That’s way too far.  I agree that comparing her to sherry pie is ridiculous, but I do think a larger discussion needs to be had.  Some of these audience interactions trends are dated and queens need to learn how to navigate today’s era.  I don’t think she should be disqualified but idk…

When I saw detox at a meet and greet, she put her hand down my shirt and grabbed my pecs.  I mean I personally enjoyed the attention tbh and she was nice and not super weird but I can also see definitely how maybe if I were a different person it would make me feel nasty or uncomfortable.

drag artists definitely need to learn how to flirt with the audience while navigating consent better.

(to be fair in recent years I’ve seen way less and less of this behavior on average. This thing with detox must have been 2014)

yeah it is inappropriate and dumb as hell,  but lets not act like it would cause a psychological damage to you just because someone did that. just slap their face and let them know it is not allowed and move on…

It also doesn't make whoever Plane Jane a criminal or deserving of having her moment taken away from her. Now if she took it even further, sure, call her out.

A drag queen doing something inappropriate? OMG, someone please think of the children!!!!!!!!! And other drag queens thinking that each other are trash? That never happened before!!111!!!!!!

It's like these people are so out of what the night-life used to be, that the sanitization of the gay culture/this show is reaching more and more the point that it's gonna be as boring as watching paint dry.

I'm not saying that what she did was right, but geez. The mob mentality of X is insufferable.

This is what happens when victims take over a culture they dont understand. I can LITERALLY find videos of drags so called "faves" doing this EXACT thing. I myself have SEEN IT WITH MY OWN EYES in Chicago from VERY FAMOUS drag queens during their numbers.

Jasmine was right, RuPauls Drag Race did indeed **** up drag.

It's not an occurence that is exclusive to drag shows though. It could be any random guy at the club grabbing your d!ck or pinching your nipples momentarily while you squeeze your way through the crowd. It happens all the time. Are these gays also sexual offenders?

I understand not everyone is gonna take it the same but if that's the extent of their actions I don't think they deserve to lose everything over it either.

I never said it did and tbh I wasn't even talking about PJ

I’m a bit mixed on the Plain Jane thing… first off I don’t even care for her so far, she serves Rosé to me, so it’s a no off the bat.

But with serious accusations like this, there really needs to be some kind of proof or the victim themselves coming out. I believe the Dragula queen but is that the only corroboration we’ve gotten? Is PJ known for doing this constantly?

I honestly haven’t been able to follow this story too well beyond that one tweet, but it seems unfair to compare this to SP, who repeatedly preyed on men for an extended period of time. SA is never okay regardless but yeah, I wish there was a solid story about this, because even beyond affecting PJ’s career, the amount of stories surrounding drag queens sexually assaulting people (Shangela, Soju, SP, etc) and the narrative around drag queens being predatory is something that shouldn’t be taken lightly. If serious accusations are going to be made, there needs to be a serious account beyond two tweets.
