It was a great season for giving us 5 lipsyncs with Jax

I didn't love any of them except the first one, and then in the last one I thought she kinda butchered Finally, but maybe I'm being too harsh by comparing it to Nina and Aja's version :rip:

What this show needs is themed seasons.

Heroes vs Villans

Drag Mothers vs Drag Daughters

Old Drag vs New Drag

Etc etc. Just like Survivor. But the producers are stuck and therefore the format is dead.

i thought she outperformed Anetra in Finally and that's when i got my first taste of duck walk fatigue (can't blame her personally with the way Ru loved it over and over). i didn't realize Finally between Aja/Nina was so loved until after i watched that season. the Holding Out for a Hero lipsync was my Aja WOW moment.

You're completely right. The format of Drag Race stopped evolving around 2016, when season 8 and All Stars 2 aired. It's very upsetting that because All Stars 2 worked so well, production thought that meant they'd found the perfect format and we've been stuck with the same stupid voting format for every single All Stars since. The format being so stale played a huge role in many of the recent All Stars seasons being received poorly.

Also, in season 14 they specifically advertised a format twist as being a big part of the season, and then the entire "twist" turned out to literally just be one of like five non-eliminations in that season. The biggest change they've made in the past few years is making the talent show and the Lalaparuza recurring challenges, but production always does the bare minimum for both those challenges. A one minute set time is ridiculous for the talent show, and a big reason why we get so many similar routines in every talent show is that there's very little you can do in one ******* minute. And the Lalaparuza has quickly become as infamous as the makeover challenge for consistently unfair judging. Production was lazy and shameless for manufacturing the same exact storyline for both Jasmine and Jax, one after the other. :rip:

I had duck walk fatigue from the first time she did it after her talent show. Well, this is the thing, I don't have duck walk fatigue, Anetra just forces it into places it absolutely doesn't belong.

Are the One Night Only episodes being extended? I thought they were already 60 mins.

it kills me everyone saying 90 minute episodes when it’s 18-20 extra mins to fill 60

I agree we need themed seasons, however every time I see this brought up people go straight to "old vs young" dynamics, and I want to say I don't think you can do that on Drag Race because the eliminations are decided by lip syncs. Generally speaking, younger queens are more physically capable of performing in Drag Race's preferred lip sync style than older queens. Very rarely will you find someone like Coco Montrese who is more fit in their 40s than most of the queens in their 20s, and fitness is an extremely important part of being able to reliably win lip syncs on Drag Race. To make this even worse, Drag Race nowadays uses a lot more modern music than they did in the early seasons.

So if you do an age theme, you're in a really awkward spot trying to coordinate lip sync songs. You don't want to make it too obvious by choosing older and/or slower songs every time you want to save an older queen, but that's what you're going to end up having to do a lot of the times.

You know what, I just realized it's upsetting that we never got to see Mistress do a ballad or a soulful song on season 15. They should have made her send Spice home to some Aretha Frankling song or something

5 minutes into the first extended episode.. so much content cut. Seeing a lot of Robin lowkey.

Then again, can I feel bad for Jax being eliminated in the Lalaparuza when she showed up to it looking like a McDonald's employee from a children's show

She's lucky Ru even let her lip sync, honey I would have sent her home and brought Sugar back

I never understood the 40 minute criticism. S6 is allegedly peak Drag Race. That was 40 minutes! All Stars 2 was 40 minutes.

Season 8/All Stars 2 got it right, 2 or 3 'Queen sized' episodes where we need them, premiere, finale, Snatch Game, the rest 40.

I'm wondering if Robin always was destined to have this screen time or these are retroactive edits based off the season feedback

I'd love to see this All Stars cast:

Heroes:

Peppermint

Adore Delano

Jasmine Kennedie

Vanessa Vanjie Mateo

Kornbread

Villains:

Daya Betty

Mistress Isabelle Brooks

Thorgy Thor

Shannel

Acid Betty

They all make great TV, and obviously Peppermint should win.

Fair enough but I think the season can afford to be shortened when the cast whittles down. I hate watching the show and feeling it drag, no pun intended. Past seasons worked because they weren’t trying to fill ad time, they cut episodes when they didn’t need to be 60

i think its bc they forgot how to edit down to 40 minutes between s10 and 15, so when they had to hastily return to it, so many hallmarks and regular segments like mini challenges, ru's walkthrus, the judges deliberations, etc were just straight up GONE. and some might argue that the first and last of those are superfluous anyway and could lead to better screentime in the segments that DO matter, but that clearly wasn't the case for most of the s15 episodes.

Besides labeling the queens heroes and villians what would the format be past that?
