Jimbo's runway look totally disappointed me. she's done the big booby big ass thing so many times that this particular runway look just came off as perfunctory, a reductive version of her week 1 runway.

 

speaking of perfunctory, Shannell looked mumsy/matronly as all hell, and I say this as a mega stan that rooted for her when season 1 aired. she has got to ditch these golden girls wigs

i could not agree more, the manliness of her OG drag presentation was part of the fun. like he knew he had a brick of a man face that couldn't really come close to "passing" from a realness/female-impersonation standpoint that more glamorous queens shoot for, so he instead went full-tilt into the more raw/clownish/punk energy. Trixie clocked it well during her Canada's Drag Race Pitstop when she said that a huge part of Jimbo's appeal was that he looked like someone's random uncle in drag. 

 

We need more queens that look like Disasterina from dragula, or give a sort of Hedwig & the Angry Inch energy.

The episode was fine. They did Darienne dirty by judging in groups but she'd have been gone soon either way. 

 

Also, Shannel is iconic, but she really didn't give much in that lipsync. They could have edited that to give Jimbo a win if they wanted to.

I've got to give Darienne credit for really continuing to play the game and fighting til the end without using an emotional plea, not once did she seem defeated or like she'd given up. I feel like if it weren't Jimbo (who 1. couldn't lip sync his way out of a cardboard box & 2. doesn't want to step a toe out of line on voting for track record based on what happened to her on UKvTW), she might have been able to convince the lip syncer to keep her with those tactics.

It definitely lacks the je ne sais quoi that i found season 6 to have. Those girls still managed to put on a really fun and competitive season.

 

I feel the judging and general producing of this season has been questions tho… Jimbo has had like 6 confessionals all up despite winning 2 challenges already, like what?

 

I love jaymes but I’m not sure about her as the narrator of the season, her schtick still seems a bit more contrived than Jimbos, even though she’s definitely come leaps and bounds since season 9. 

 

But yeah this season has felt mid so far… time will tell if it ends up being better than AS5.

For me it’s definitely the production. I don’t feel like we’re getting to know the queens at all or see them interact as much. I think cutting the deliberations part and making it untucked was a mistake.

Yeah I'm starting to live for Jimbo's goofy lipsyncs and Shannel is an icon but she didn't really give the right energy for this song. This could've been her first win

New Roscoes with Kasha & Darienne (idk why it isn't embedded)

 

Main points:

• Darienne was unhinged throughout all the viewing party (and she was extremely funny)
• Everyone agrees Darienne didn't deserve her first bottom
• Kasha & Darienne had a secret alliance 
• After Alexis threw Darienne under the bus, Darienne DID clap back to her and explained to RuPaul that it was Alexis' ideas that ruined the trailer. This was cut by the editors
• Everyone agrees Darienne was the best out of the group (outfit and performance)
• Darienne reveals she got skin cancer during quarantine, she kept it a secret and she's now in recession
• They cut part of the skin of her left leg due to the cancer and that's why she felt so proud showing off her legs for the first time in years
