Regurgitating her iconic lines (likely found by Googling "Mae West quotes") and adding "anus" is not impressive, and I say that as one of the biggest Mae West fans on the planet. Her Snatch Game was just not funny.

Alaska is a weird situation cause she’s kind of the “Drag Race” winner. She’s the best at being good at drag race and while she’s influenced the show quite a bit, she’s also sort of a derivative of it in the way that so many of the new seasons’ girls are. The only difference is, Alaska is the best of all of them.

 

But what makes the best winners like Bob, Bianca, Jimbo if she wins etc so appealing is that their sense of humor doesn’t really rely on Drag Race since it comes from outside the show. For that reason I think Alaska could win an AW season with these girls on it, but only because she’s great at drag race, but I think outside of that she doesn’t really stack up to some of the greats.

Idk Alaska is so quick/witty and she's such a good live singer. What always impresses me about Race Chaser/Hot Goss (even though sometimes the quality takes a dip when Willam is in a really spicy mood with WOW) is just how quick she and Willam both are with their pop culture references. I actually think she's a bit underrated as a winner, her live shows for me are consistently the most entertaining solo ru girl experiences (way stronger than Bianca's stand up, probably at least on par with Bob's, haven't seen Jinkx/Dela to comment on how they stack up). Her newest album in particular is just a really good pop album, but she's still so good at blending comedy into her live sets naturally.

 

I honestly think part of the issue is that what makes Alaska the most money is being referential to drag race. It's not her fault that her Loosey number ultimately went more viral than any of that original stuff. And it is a trap I think a lot of the girls fall in and have trouble getting out of. Like Bob and Monet CLEARLY hate doing Watchery now, but they do it because they know way more of their fans want that than the advice show. And Bob is going on tour with Madonna and released a rap EP this year, but probably his most viral moment of 2023 so far was that video of him doing Kate Bush mixed with Salina's Ross rant in front of her in the glove look.
